Austin Marathon’s KXAN Simple Health 5K Sells Out Quickly

5K will take place in conjunction with the Austin Half Marathon on April 25th

AUSTIN, Texas, March 30, 2021 — The KXAN Simple Health 5K benefitting Paramount Theatre has sold out and registration is closed. The Austin Half Marathon, owned and produced by High Five Events, is also expected to sell out before race weekend. Both the 5K and the Ascension Seton Austin Half Marathon presented by Under Armour received formal approval from the City of Austin to take place on April 25, 2021. Registration is still open for the virtual versions of the Austin Half Marathon and 5K.

“The KXAN Simple Health 5K is such an integral part of race day and we’re thrilled it’s part of this year’s race weekend,” said Jack Murray, co-owner of High Five Events. “It’s a popular event that has introduced many new runners to Austin Marathon weekend and supports the iconic Paramount Theatre.”

A portion of 5K registration fees will benefit Paramount Theatre and its educational programs. Last year, $22,780 was donated to the historic Austin theatre thanks in part to a matching $10,000 grant from the Moody Foundation, presenting partner of Austin Marathon Gives. Since 2014, Austin Marathon Gives has raised $3.8 million for numerous worthy Central Texas nonprofits. Through their grants, the Moody Foundation has given $1.2 million to the program since 2016.

Online registration is currently available. The in-person and the virtual options both have a maximum capacity set in the COVID-19 Mitigation Plan. The event has already surpassed 65% of the capacity based on current registrations. All events are expected to sell out.
