Approximately 2,000 Athletes Converge in Florida’s Panhandle for the 2022 Visit Panama City Beach IRONMAN Florida, Part of The VinFast IRONMAN U.S. Series

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The beautiful beaches and emerald-green waters of Panama City Beach, Fla. provided a stunning backdrop for the 2022 Visit Panama City Beach IRONMAN Florida triathlon, part of the VinFast IRONMAN U.S. Series, on Saturday, Nov. 5. Approximately 2,000 athletes kicked off their IRONMAN journey, beginning with a 2.4-mile swim in the Gulf of Mexico before taking on a 112-mile bike ride through Bay County and a 26.2-mile run on a popular flat and fast course, highlighting Panama City Beach, the intercoastal waterway, breathtaking views of the shoreline and an electric finish line inside Pier Park.

In the men’s age-group race, Daniel McParland from New Longton, Great Britain competing in the M40-44 age group was the first to cross the line with an overall finishing time of 8:55:42. In the women’s race, Katrine Brock of Sønderjylland, Denmark racing in the F30-34 age group took top honors with an overall finishing time of 9:49:32.

The 2022 Visit Panama City Beach IRONMAN Florida, part of the VinFast IRONMAN U.S. Series led athletes along a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, and 26.2-mile run through Panama City Beach and the surrounding areas. The swim took place in the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico, while the single-loop bike course was flat and fast with some rolling hills with an elevation high of 161 feet above sea level. Closing out their 140.6-mile journey, the two-loop run course was flat and fast and ran along the shoreline with an energetic finish at Russell-Fields Pier. The 2022 Visit Panama City Beach IRONMAN Florida, part of the VinFast U.S. Series offered 55 coveted age-group qualifying slots for the 2023 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship, taking place in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i on Oct. 12 & 14, 2023.

The Visit Panama City Beach IRONMAN Florida triathlon, part of the VinFast IRONMAN North American Series, will return to Florida’s Panhandle on Nov. 4, 2023.
