Altra Footwear Announces Three New Road Shoes With A Fast and Light Theme

(Logan, UT— July 20, 2017) Altra expands its road line with three exciting new road shoes—the Solstice, Duo and Vanish-R. The brand also showcases great updates to its current road, trail, casual and apparel lines at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City from July 26-29 at booth #35169.
The Altra Duo:
The new Altra Duo perfectly pairs a max cushion height—31mm—with an incredibly low weight of 7.9 ounces. To keep this shoe as light as possible, the upper is made from a thin, breathable reinforced material ideal for breathability and draining water. A new pillow tongue made of Nubuck suede prevents “lace bite” on the instep, for a secure, but comfortable, fit.
A rubber outsole with a foam midsole keeps the Duo’s base light, yet durable and flexible. With Altra’s signature FootShape™ toe box and Zero Drop™ platform, the Duo’s cushy but light fit is perfect for two different consumers. Runners will love the combination for ultras, marathons and long run training. Those who work long hours on their feet, such as medical professionals, will also appreciate the impressive cushioning that doesn’t feel like added weight on the feet. Color options for men are blue/yellow, black/red and black/orange and color options for women are blue/yellow, black/pink and purple/orange

The Altra Solstice:
The Solstice is a great low price trainer for shorter distance runs, gym workouts and casual wear. Altra kept things simple with an exposed EVA outsole and a durable abrasion resistant EVA midsole with InnerFlex™ technology for better speed and performance. The breathable engineered mesh upper features decorative stitching and a 3D printed design. With a 23 mm stack height and weighing six ounces, this shoe is the perfect combination at an affordable price. Colors for men are black, dark blue, pink/gray and gray/orange and colors for women are black, light blue, purple and pink/navy.

The Altra Vanish-R:
Introducing the Vanish-R, Altra’s first racing flat, and at just 14 mm stack height and only 3.9 ounces, a truly elite shoe.
“Hitting sub-four ounces was a major goal for this shoe, because we know that’s what the really serious runners want,” said Altra founder Golden Harper. “The Vanish-R feels the most like there’s no shoe, more than any shoe out there. It simply vanishes from your feet and your consciousness, to focus on the race.”
The Vanish-R is a chameleon — a road shoe, a fast flat or a spikeless racer for track and cross country — all with Altra’s signature Footshape™ toe box and Zero Drop™ platform. Engineered mesh on the forefoot of the upper fits like a glove, while reinforced mesh locks in the heel. Vanish-R has the lowest stack height and lightest weight of Altra’s shoes. Colors in unisex sizing will be black, yellow/gray, dark blue, racing red and neon yellow/pink.

The Altra Instinct/Intuition 4.5:
The Instinct 4.5—the most recent update to Altra’s very first shoe—features a full rubber outsole that improves traction and durability, to help the shoe last for hundreds of miles with less wear and tear. The update includes a new fresh, fast design using techniques such as a color-blocked engineered mesh upper, 3D printed pin stripes and dye-sublimated printing. With a 25 mm stack height and weighing only 9.9 ounces for the men’s sample, the Instinct continues to be Altra’s perfect do-it-all shoe.
Altra is known for making shoes specific to each gender, which is why the women’s version of the Instinct is called the Intuition. As the brand’s first shoe, Altra gave the men’s and women’s versions coordinating names to emphasize the different fit. All of Altra’s women’s shoes are Fit4Her™, meaning the women’s model is made with a softer cushioning on a female-specific last to account for the unique anatomical difference between men’s and women’s feet. Colors for the Instinct are black, blue/lime and red/black, while colors for the Intuition are black, pink/black and light blue/gray.

The Altra Escalante:
The Escalante was Altra’s most successful shoe launch ever, so more color option have been added to the popular road shoe. The additional options are black, heathered blue and lime green for men and black, light blue/gray and seafoam for women. These new colors are featured on a flexible, breathable, engineered knit upper for a comfortable sock-like fit. Made with Altra’s Ego™ midsole, this cushioning is bouncier with more energy return, despite being softer and thinner. Built on Altra’s PFS performance last, the Escalante is designed for a fast ride with energetic rebound, perfect for sprints to marathons and everyday training.

The Altra Provision 3.0:
Altra’s Provision 3.0 is a part of its Dynamic Support category, which means the support features—a Varus wedge, StabiliPod™ and GuideRail™ technology—start to guide you feet only when you need them. This non-intrusive type of support promotes good form to help those with weak feet, collapsed arches or excessive pronation run longer and stronger. Because of the demand for the Provision, Altra expanded the line by adding two new color options. The new designs are available in blue and orange for men and dark blue and blue/pink for women.

The Altra King MT 1.5:
The King MT 1.5 features a new design and updated colors with a stronger mesh upper and drainage holes to increase the shoe’s performance on any terrain. New color options are black fade, red/black and yellow/green for men and black fade, gray/pink and purple/orange for women.
With significant 6.0 mm outsole lugs, the King MT 1.5 is designed for lateral braking, medial gripping and maximum traction. Topping those lugs is Altra’s popular Ego™ mid-sole for high rebound at a low weight, along with a flexible StoneGuard™ rock plate for extra underfoot protection. Altra’s FootLock™ feature–a midfoot strap to lock the foot in place on steep descents–was lowered towards the arch for a more secure fit. These features, combined with a Vibram MegaGrip™ outsole and a low 19 mm stack height, make this the perfect off-trail trail shoe for mud, wet grass and burly mountain climbs, as well as Spartan/obstacle course races.

The Altra Superior 3.5:
Altra’s award-winning Superior trail shoe is so well-loved that Altra added three new color options to the line. The updated Superior 3.5 features red/orange, black/red and navy blue for men and black/purple, light blue and pink/orange for women on a more durable, reinforced upper. The new colors will launch in early December, just in time for the holiday season.
This shoe maintains all the features that trail runners love in a fresh, new design. The upper is incredibly durable with elastic overlays for added security, a lateral flare on the outsole lugs increases grip and stability, while Altra’s new 4-Point GaiterTrap™ system allows for the snuggest fit and easy application of gaiters.
