A Roaring Front: 2019 Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon Unveils Marathon Medal Design

Organisers also launch this year’s app, and announce training sessions to help runners achieve their personal ambitions

SINGAPORE / TAMPA, Fla. (28 August 2019) Organisers of the 2019 Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon™ (SCSM) unveiled the SCSM medal design for this year’s Marathon category, a second rendition of the “Bold Gold” series. The medal design is fronted by the Merlion, a unique yet deeply-rooted symbol of Singapore, with key elements of the city’s iconic skyline in the background.

The 15,000 anticipated participants in the Marathon category will receive the iconic medal upon completion of SCSM’s first evening race on 30 November.

To begin preparing for this year’s race, runners can now participate in training programmes from the Running Department, Garmin Women Squad, or SCSM’s virtual running community on Strava, helping runners put their best foot forward as they prepare for the race.

Running Department

Interested participants can join free weekly training sessions led by official pacers from the Running Department starting from 28 August onwards. These training-run routes include varying distances, ranging from 10km to 33km, venturing across the island, passing by notable locations including Singapore Sports Hub (home to the world’s largest retractable roof), the Formula 1 Pit Building and Labrador Park, allowing participants to have a feel of the route even before race day.

Garmin Women Squad

All registered #SCSM2019 ladies can also enjoy a dedicated training programme with renowned Garmin ambassadors from 21 August, leading up to race day. This programme, available for free, will include training runs, workouts, talks, exclusive gifts and more!

SCSM 2019 Mobile Application

Participants can now receive the latest race information and updates ‘live’ via the SCSM 2019 mobile application. The app also includes a 3-month training plan, tailored to each runner’s schedule as they gear up to race day. The app is scheduled for launch in September, with ‘live’ updates around key alerts like road closures and race pack collection reminders rolled out closer to the event.

While race slots for the Half Marathon are sold out, limited entries for the Marathon category are available. Registration is open and runners can enjoy discounted signup rates from now until 30 September 2019.
