RunSignup Concludes Decade of Public Registration Market Analysis Reports

March 13, 2026

Technology leader shifts focus to AI-powered innovation as competitors exit the market.

Moorestown, NJ (March 13, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – RunSignup, the leading registration and technology platform for endurance events in the United States, today announced it will discontinue its bi-annual public registration market analysis reports after a decade of providing industry transparency. The decision comes as the company approaches 60% market share in the U.S. endurance event registration market and shifts its strategic focus toward AI-powered innovation.

Since September 2015, RunSignup has published 22 public market analysis reports, offering unprecedented transparency into the competitive landscape of the race registration industry. The reports documented the company’s steady growth while tracking the rise and fall of numerous competitors.

“We started these reports more than 10 years ago to help us understand the market, and we decided our customers deserved to know how we were doing,” said Bob Bickel, Founder and CEO of RunSignup. “Today, our customers can continue to track our progress through quarterly and yearly updates that include churn numbers and market share estimates. We’re simply the stable choice for endurance events, and the numbers prove it.”

The past decade has seen significant consolidation in the registration market, with major competitors, including Stack/GetMeRegistered/RaceWire and Chronotrack Registration ceasing operations. RunSignup attributes these exits to strategies that distracted from building quality software at fair prices, including vertical integration attempts, marketplace approaches, funding mismatches, and operational inefficiency.

“The lessons from the past 10 years have reinforced our core values: the best product and a fair price are the keys to success,” Bickel explained. “Good technology always takes longer to develop than you expect, and customers move slowly from one vendor to another. Patience and stability matter.”

Looking ahead, RunSignup identifies AI-powered do-it-yourself (DIY) solutions as the primary competitive force over the next decade, rather than traditional registration platforms.

“We predict that AI DIY will capture 10-20% of the market in the next 5-10 years as race organizers with technical capability choose to build their own solutions,” said Bickel. “However, we don’t expect a significant unified competitor to emerge from these efforts. Building a real business requires time, money, talent, and critical mass coming together.”

RunSignup’s response to this shift is aggressive investment in AI technology. The company plans to leverage AI tools like Claude Opus 4.6 and ChatGPT to both accelerate internal development and empower customers with AI-enhanced features.

“Our strategy is to run as fast as we can with AI,” Bickel stated. “We believe our development team will understand how to use AI better than our competitors or upstart DIY efforts. This will allow us to continue delivering significant feature and cost advantages for endurance events that they won’t be able to achieve on their own.”

The employee-owned company continues to expand its comprehensive platform, which includes robust registration, RaceDay Real-Time technology (including RaceDay Scoring, RaceJoy, and RaceDay CheckIn), free email marketing, website hosting, free photo platform, fundraising tools, membership management, and ticketing.

Recent quarterly updates show RunSignup maintaining industry-leading low churn rates while steadily growing market share through customer referrals and word-of-mouth recommendations.
