6,500 Runners, 1,000 Girls on The Run, And a Beach-Sized Afterparty: Virginia 10 Miler & 5K Delivers Unforgettable Weekend

May 12, 2026

Virginia Beach, VA (May 12, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The oceanfront was alive with energy this past weekend as more than 6,500 runners filled the streets for the sold-out 2026 Virginia Beach 10 Miler & 5K presented by Sentara. Held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, the event brought together elite athletes, weekend warriors, and a record-setting contingent of young runners for a celebration of fitness, resilience, and community.

Participants conquered a scenic, fast course that showcased the best of Virginia Beach, with fantastic racing conditions fueling personal bests and smiles across both distances. But the success wasn’t limited to the pavement. Following the final finishers, the festival area transformed into another talked-about post-race parties in the region.

Runners were rewarded with cold brews from Commonwealth Brewing Company, a local favorite, and refueled with nutritious, post-race meals from Lifestyle Meals. The party reached full stride with live music from The Dundies.

The weekend’s most unforgettable moment, however, belonged to the youngest runners. As the official charity partner of the 5K, Girls on the Run brought more than 1,000 girls and their run buddies to the starting line. They laughed their way through the course, high-fived spectators, and crossed the finish line beaming turning the boardwalk into a moving sea of confidence and joy. For everyone watching, it was a powerful reminder that this race isn’t just about finish times. It’s about showing up for each other.

“We had a feeling this year would be special, but the energy was unreal,” said Race Director Jerry Frostick. “From the first cannon blast to the last beer served, the excitement never stopped. And watching over a thousand Girls on the Run participants own that 5K course? That’s the heart of this event. That’s why we do this.”

Race Director Amy Frostick added: “We sold out 6,500 spots, served up local favorites, and welcomed Girls on the Run into the J&A Racing family. It was a whirlwind weekend. But honestly? The only stat that matters is this: everyone left smiling. That’s a win for Virginia Beach.”

The 5th Running of the Virginia Beach 10 Miler & 5K will take place May 8,2027. The weekend features the 10 Miler, 5K, Live the Life Challenge and the very popular Beach Bum Challenge. Registration for 2027 is now on sale. For more information, please visit virginiabeach10miler.com.
