2021 Austin Half Marathon Invites Businesses to Join the Race Weekend Fun

March 24, 2021

Businesses can participate in this new initiative at no cost

AUSTIN, Texas, March 24, 2021 — The Ascension Seton Austin Marathon presented by Under Armour invites businesses to be included in the post-race goodie bag or the virtual goodie bag. This new initiative will cost nothing and can include local establishments and national businesses with an Austin presence. In lieu of the 3-block-long finish line festival, participants will be encouraged to safely celebrate their accomplishments at local businesses and support the Austin economy. The Austin Half Marathon, owned and produced by High Five Events, will take place on Sunday, April 25th.

“We’re excited to join this year’s Austin Half Marathon, an event that celebrates getting outside, being active, and having fun,” said Grace Nicholas, CRUX Climing Center COO/CMO. “It’s great to be one of the local businesses that are part of this initiative and we love that we can provide a reward for everyone challenging themselves.”

All 7000 participants will receive a post-race goodie bag after they cross the finish line. These will be prepared in advance of race weekend. The virtual goodie bag will be sent to all in-person and virtual participants after the event via email. A similar virtual goodie bag was created for those who ran with Nate Boyer on February 13th. It was highlighted with exclusive offers from partners like Fleet Feet Austin, SPIbelt, nuun, and GU Energy. Other well-known Austin establishments like CRUX Climbing Center, Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ, Home Slice, and Hula Hut provided deals too. Interested businesses should fill out this form.

“Creating this initiative is another way we’re giving back to the local community, supporting our participants, and contributing to the Austin economy,” said Jack Murray, co-owner of High Five Events. “The Austin Marathon has supported Austin in numerous ways throughout the years and this year will be no different.”

Online registration is currently available for both the Austin Half Marathon and KXAN Simple Health 5K. The in-person and the virtual options both have a maximum capacity set in the COVID-19 Mitigation Plan. The event has already surpassed 56% of the capacity based on current registrations. The event is expected to sell out.
