2020 Tough Ruck March Honors Fallen Heroes and Raises Funds to Support Fallen Military

CONCORD, MA – November 26, 2019 –The Military Friends Foundation, a nonprofit that provides critical assistance Massachusetts military families and the families of the fallen in times of need, today announced that registration is 70 percent sold out for the 2020 Tough Ruck. The 2020 event will take place on Sunday, April 19 at The Fenn School in Concord. Current and former military, as well as civilians, will participate in this endurance event, marching in honor and in memory of fallen service members, police, firefighters and EMTs, while raising funds to support military families and first responders. Military Friends Foundation is proud to continue its partnership with the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) and the National Park Service to make this special event happen.

“Cheering on hundreds of heroes as they ruck through a challenging 26.2-mile course is an inspiring and humbling sight, and we are proud to host one of the premier events that is held during the Patriots’ Day weekend,” said Sarah Sweeney, army wife and Executive Director, Military Friends Foundation.

Tough Ruckers walk a marathon-length course, carrying weighted rucks that also hold the names of fallen comrades. Participants carry rucksacks weighing as much as 35 pounds on their backs, and must commit to raising a minimum of $450. Tough Ruckers originally marched the Boston Marathon course with 40-pound ruck sacks. Tough Ruck has since moved to Concord and the Battle Trails of the Revolutionary War, yet finishers are still recognized by the B.A.A. with medals each year. The Tough Ruck continues in 2020 as a part of the Patriots’ Day weekend of events and is an uplifting, family-friendly event celebrating service, sacrifice and honor.
