Triathlete, Husband, Father, Policeman, and did we mention Mayor?
Sunny San Diego, California – March 27, 2012: USA Triathlon recently announced the 2011 Age Group Athletes of the Year. The male winner of this honor is Adam Weber, of Denver PA.
Webber brought home amateur wins in 2011 at the Hy-Vee 5150 Triathlon (along with a Mini Cooper), St. Anthony’s Triathlon, and Ironman 70.3 Texas.
These great finishes came after taking 18 months off following the birth of his son, Jon Blaise (named after Jon Blaise AKA: “Blazeman, the first person with ALS to finish Ironman).
Adam’s year was also full of excitement off the race course. He missed the birth of his daughter, Lux, due to the hurricane induced flooding in Denver, PA where clean-up of their creekside home is not yet completed. Adam, his wife, Stef, and children are all safe and healthy. Adam was also recently hired as a police officer and he is currently serving as the Mayor of Denver through January of 2014.
Adam went on to finish his first Ironman in Hawaii this past October wearing number 179, in honor of Jon Blaise, and finished a respectable 10:38:17 in spite of four flat tires.
