Back For Year Two: 2016 RunDallas Race Series Launches with Races From FC Dallas, the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks and the BMW Dallas Marathon

DALLAS (June 15, 2016) — Organizers of the 2016 BMW Dallas Marathon today announced the second season of the RunDallas Race Series in partnership with FC Dallas, the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Mavericks. The RunDallas Race Series was created in 2015 to further the promotion of health and fitness in the North Texas community through running and physical activity, a mission collectively shared by each of the participating organizations.

“We are excited to welcome back FC Dallas, the Rangers and the Mavs as partners in the RunDallas Race Series this year. After a successful debut in 2015 that saw many North Texans maintain months-long commitments to their physical fitness, we look forward to growing the race series and enhancing the runner experience at each of these signature events,” said Lisa Croley, chairman of the Dallas Marathon board of directors.

To participate in the 2016 RunDallas Race Series, an individual must complete a series of four races held throughout the calendar year. RunDallas Race Series events include:

  •        July 9: The FC Dallas Footy 5K and Fun Run presented by VAZATA
  •        Sept. 4: Rangers Labor Day Weekend Race presented by Medical Center Arlington
  •        Oct. 6: The Mavs Run This Town 5K
  •        Dec. 11: BMW Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon or Behringer Relay

The race series culminates in December with the 46th running of the BMW Dallas Marathon. Participants may complete the marathon, half marathon or Behringer relay division of the December 11 event to qualify. Runners that do complete all four RunDallas Race Series events will earn a signature RunDallas Race Series medal, awarded at the BMW Dallas Marathon finish line on Sunday, December 11.

The FC Dallas Footy 5K and Fun Run Presented by VAZATA will be held at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Proceeds from the event benefit the FC Dallas Foundation. To register for the race, visit FCDallas.itsyourrace.com/register.

“We look forward to this event every year. It’s a real opportunity for us to collaborate with like-minded sports enthusiasts in North Texas to promote healthy, fun lifestyles that make our region a thriving metroplex,” said Dan Hunt, president of FC Dallas.

Rangers Labor Day Weekend Race presented by Medical Center Arlington will be held at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas. The 5K course follows a scenic route through Arlington’s central entertainment district including Globe Life Park, AT&T Stadium and Six Flags Over Texas. Proceeds from the event benefit the Texas Rangers Foundation. For more information, visit texasrangers.com/race.

“The Texas Rangers and Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation hope that our fans and the North Texas community will lace up their shoes over the holiday weekend for the Rangers Labor Day Weekend Race Presented by Medical Center Arlington, and are excited to be working with our region’s other key sports leader to further the promotion of health and fitness,“ said Karin Morris, executive director of the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.

The third annual Mavs Run This Town 5K benefits the Dallas Mavericks Foundation and will be held Oct 6 at American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas. A post-run party featuring live music and giveaways follows the event. For more information, visit mavs.com/mavs5k.

“The Dallas Mavericks, our friends at the Dallas Marathon and the collaboration with other area sports teams and foundations have been the growing force behind increased promotion of active, healthy lifestyles in our community,” said George Killebrew, executive vice president of the Dallas Mavericks. “The Mavs Run This Town 5K is a great fall tune-up for anyone training seriously for December, and just a flat out fun event for the entire community.”
