(Logan, UT — January 11, 2018) Altra’s most aggressive trail shoe—the King MT 1.5—now has improved features to help you dominate the muddiest, slickest, rockiest courses out there.
The King MT 1.5’s new design features a stronger reinforced mesh upper and enhanced drainage features on the toes and medial midfoot to increase the shoe’s performance on wet terrain. Altra’s FootLock™ technology – a midfoot strap to lock the foot in place on steep descents – was moved lower down on the arch for for increased comfort. The neoprene inside the heel is softer and more secure for less slipping with a better fit.
With significant 6 mm outsole lugs, the King MT 1.5 is designed for lateral braking, medial gripping and maximum traction. Topping those lugs is Altra’s popular Ego™ midsole for high rebound at a low weight, along with a flexible StoneGuard™ rock plate for extra underfoot protection. These features, combined with a Vibram MegaGrip™ outsole and a low 19 mm stack height, make this shoe ideal for Spartan/obstacle courses, mud, wet grass and burly mountain climbs.
The updated design of the King MT 1.5 also comes in exciting new colors with black/gray, red/black and yellow/blue for men, and gray/pink, red/purple and black/gray for women.
The King MT 1.5 is available now for $140 on www.AltraRunning.com or at your local running specialty retailer.
While working at a running store, Altra founder Golden Harper was frustrated that modern running shoe technology caused poor running form and had not decreased running injuries. His passion to create a shoe that followed the science produced Altra’s FootShape™ toe box and Zero Drop™ platform. Since its founding in 2011, Harper and co-founder Brian Beckstead have grown Altra from one to 25 shoe styles, winning multiple Editor’s Choice awards and distribution in more than 60 countries.
