The Cowtown fulfills 5,620 C.A.L.F. grants at 104 schools in North Texas

January 11, 2024

Fort Worth, Texas/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – In the weeks preceding race weekend, February 24-25, 2024 at Will Rogers Memorial Center, the Cowtown staff and an army of volunteers will visit 104 schools delivering much needed running shoes, socks, and assistance with entry fees to youth in need enabling them to run the Kids 5K distance race. The C.A.L.F. program is an opportunity for area youth to start living a healthier life regardless of their background. The mission of Cowtown is based on the fact that a fit and active child will adopt life-long healthy habits.

“Our volunteers are preparing to host more than 21,000 athletes and actively living out our mission by hand-fitting shoes on more than 5,500 kids in the next six weeks,” said The Cowtown Executive Director, Heidi Swartz. “Some of our athletes do not realize that the Cowtown Marathon benefits its own charity and how running the race impacts thousands of area youth.”

For the past 15 years, the Cowtown has distributed over 54,000 pairs of shoes with the help of community involvement. Anyone support C.A.L.F with any contribution amount throughout the year, you don’t have to run to play a role (estimate cost of shoes and entry fee discount is $50 per child). You may also adopt a whole school which ranges between $1,000 to $5,000.
