Team Evergreen to Present The Hundo in 2021 and Beyond

March 10, 2021

EVERGREEN, COLO, March 10, 2021 — Team Evergreen Cycling, announces a new addition to their events offering: the Hundo. Known to provide some of the smoothest single track in Colorado in the beloved Buffalo Creek area near Bailey, CO, “the Hundo,” taking place on June 19th, will now have a new course, new price, but still promises to give back to the same three beneficiaries.

Since its establishment in 1988, Team Evergreen has donated $3 million to local nonprofits through the proceeds of their events and membership. The Hundo beneficiaries are the Colorado High School Cycling League – a resource for high school students around the state to be exposed to the world of cycling, Lucky to Ride – dedicated to giving underserved and at-risk youth the opportunity to experience and learn about the natural beauty of Colorado, and the Colorado Mountain Bike Association (COMBA) – a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and preservation of great mountain biking experiences in Colorado.

In an effort to welcome all abilities and acknowledge the popularity of the shorter 50-mile course, the Hundo is now 100k, with an even shorter 50k Fundo. The organizers have followed the classic hundred-mile course with all the favorite trails in Buffalo Creek. The Hundo is also decreasing its registration cost. With the removal of the fundraising requirement, registration fees are now $100 less. Now, people who can give, can, and people who can’t can simply enjoy the ride.

“We know that event registration costs can be too high for many – even if the end goal is to give to organizations in need,” said Jen Barbour, executive director of Team Evergreen. “We focus on providing a welcoming environment to every level of cyclist and giving back to the community. By adding the Hundo as a Team Evergreen event, we will be able to continue to do all of the above: provide a stellar event experience, reduce rider costs while continuing to give to the organizations that the Hundo has targeted their support to in years’ past.”

Kendra Head, a Colorado native and avid mountain biker, is the new race director of the Hundo. With Kendra taking the helm, 4 out of 6 race directors at Team Evergreen are now women.

Registration for the Hundo is now open to all legacy riders by email invite and will open for the general population on March 17th. Registration is capped at 400 people and is expected to fill up fast.
