Super League Triathlon signs broadcaster deals in 135 territories for its hybrid SLT Arena Games format

August 6, 2020

The debut event of Super League Triathlon’s SLT Arena Games has secured significant global broadcast contracts.

The year’s first major professional triathlon race is a groundbreaking mix of in real life and virtual racing with the sport’s biggest stars taking part in Rotterdam on August 23.

The interest from broadcasters around the world to bring live triathlon back to an eager public and showcase what promises to be an innovative new concept, which has been developed in partnership with Zwift, has been overwhelming.

Live broadcast deals have been secured with the likes of NENT picking up the rights in the Nordics. L’Equipe has acquired the rights in France. Further deals have been agreed in South Africa (SuperSport), Canada (CBC), Latin America (ClaroSports), Turkey (Saran), Australia (Fox Sports) and Poland (Sportklub) for the pioneering event with coverage secured in at least 135 territories around the world.

Further talks are ongoing with other major broadcasters as Super League looks to offer the racing to as wide an audience as possible.

Super League Triathlon’s Chief Marketing Officer, Joe Edwards, said: “At Super League Triathlon we want our events to be seen by as many people as possible and have been delighted at the significant interest we have received for the debut of the SLT Arena Games.

“This promises to be something very new, not just for triathlon but sport in general as the best athletes in the world compete in an arena but with elements of the racing realised via Zwift’s world-leading global platform.”
