Founded in 2007, RaceSLO has successfully grown into the largest participatory sporting event producer on California’s Central Coast and a highly respected national brand. For over thirteen years, under the leadership of Founder and CEO Samantha Pruitt, RaceSLO’s signature brand has produced competitive running and cycling events, outdoor lifestyle and health educational events, and all-inclusive family fitness weekends, while creating positive economic and social impact in its local communities.
Pruitt is currently on a national Endurance Town USA tour connecting with outdoor adventure communities, amplifying local voices of endurance sports, and bringing authentic stories to an audience around the world. Connecting from her sprinter van nicknamed Badass Betty, she reflected on RaceSLO’s achievements.

RaceSLO’s event portfolio includes: SLO Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K and Kids Races Running Festival; SLO YogaMusic Fest; SLO Ultra Games & SLO Ultra Trail Races; SLO GranFondo; SLO MTB, and the Central Coast Cancer Challenge. The organization has sponsored community run, youth and fitness training programs as well as supported value aligned local non-profits. Over the last 13 years, RaceSLO has helped raise and donated over $275,000 to nonprofits in the local community. Based on an independent study by Productive Impact LLC, the SLO Marathon & Half generated $2.44 million in economic impact every year, countywide. Collectively, RaceSLO’s endurance sporting event portfolio generates over $4 million for the local economy annually. Annual participation in RaceSLO’s events includes 5,000+ athletes, along with 1,500 volunteers, 40 local sponsors and suppliers, 5 local beneficiaries and more than 12,000 spectator fans.
