June 14, 2022

The management acquisition adds another open water swimming race to an already robust race Series.

Saint Augustine Beach, Florida/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Salty Sports Society, a leading open water swimming race company, has acquired the management contract for the 2nd Annual Swim With Nick memorial race in Dania Beach, FL. With the success of the inaugural event last year, the acquisition adds another stop to the extensive lineup of popular endurance events produced by Salty Sports Society.

“When we were contacted by representatives of the Nicholas Dworet Memorial Fund, we jumped at the opportunity to get involved,” said Matt Dunn, Co-Founder of Salty Sports Society. “We are truly dedicated to lending a helping hand to the Fund with a goal of increasing participation, supporting their worthwhile causes, and to help continue Nick’s legacy.”

In 2018, Nick Dworet passed on as a result of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL.

“This event means so much, not only to Nick’s family and friends, our local swim community, but also all the charitable endeavors we touch on an annual basis. We look forward to our partnership with Salty Sports Society and continuing Nick’s memory through rewarding charitable donations,” said Carla Albano, Author of Soul of a Swimmer, a book dedicated to Nick’s memory and accomplishments and Race Director of Swim With Nick. “With Salty Sports Society behind the event planning efforts, we are excited to see its continued growth.”

Salty Sports Society, based in St. Augustine Beach, FL, is known as a community builder for the sport of open water swimming and the extensive production of safe racing standards, including multiple sponsor activations.

The Speedo SALT Series is designed with a “racecation” feel offering a la carte weekend activities from Friday to Sunday. A portion of annual Series proceeds give back to the Florida Beach Patrol Chiefs Association and the United States Lifesaving Association Southeast Region.

The Speedo SALT Series culminates each year with the Annual Buoy Ball to celebrate each Series end and to distribute the High Point Champion awards, including “The Rzy,” an annual award named after Fred Rzymek, who has hosted events and provided leadership in Florida’s endurance sports space for over 35 years.

About the Nicholas Dworet Memorial Fund Inc.

The Nicholas Dworet Memorial Fund Inc. is a 501c3 organization dedicated to the memory of Nicholas Dworet. Nicholas was taken from us on February 14, 2018, at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. He was a beautiful young man survived by his loving family, mother Annika, father Mitch, brother Alex, and his girlfriend Daria. Nicholas was loved by everyone who knew him.

Nick loved to swim having started when he was just seven years old. Nick flourished his last few years in high school and became an amazing student-athlete earning a swimming scholarship to the University of Indianapolis!

The proceeds raised from Swim With Nick are used to allow the memorial fund to give back to the swimming community in a variety of ways. Due to event proceeds, including a free, annual swim clinic, $25,000 in college scholarships have been distributed. The memorial fund has also engaged the Broward County Special Olympics swim community with a goal of supporting their efforts in the future.
