Portland, Oregon – March 10, 2023 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Shamrock Run Portland today announces today a new partnership naming Toyota as the official automotive sponsor of the 2023 event. Every spring, Portland dons its kelly green, shamrock socks and leprechaun attire for the festive road race, which annually welcomes nearly 20,000 runners.

“The Shamrock Run is a community tradition where runners make memories that last a lifetime,” said Russ Humberston, president of the Pacific Northwest Toyota Dealers Association. “This partnership reflects Toyota’s dedication to the local community and is a tremendous opportunity to deepen our relationship with active athletes by supporting the places and platforms where they accomplish their goals.”

Throughout the two-day weekend event, Toyota vehicles will be on display at the race expo and the finish line venue. The vehicle manufacturer will also serve as the title sponsor of “Toyota Team Village,” an exclusive area at Waterfront Park dedicated to local running clubs, charity groups, corporate teams, and groups of families and friends.

“We are proud to welcome Toyota – one of the leading automotive retailers in the Pacific Northwest – to our family of partners at Shamrock Run,” said Phyllis Blanchard, director of partnerships for the event. “We look forward to showcasing a lime green Toyota Tacoma as the lead pace vehicle of the inaugural Shamrock Showdown 8k. Whether you’re a casual jogger or world-class athlete, the Shamrock Run is a community tradition that offers something for everyone.”

Founded in 1979, the Shamrock Run Portland is the largest running and walking event in Oregon and will celebrate its 45th edition this Sunday, March 12, 2023. The road race kicks off the spring running season in the Pacific Northwest and offers a variety of distances from 5K to a half-marathon, as well as the “Shamrock Stride” fitness walk and a children’s 1K “Leprechaun Lap” benefitting the Friends of Doernbecher Grant Program.

Race weekend kicks off with the Shamrock Run Fitness Fair at the Oregon Convention Center on Friday, March 10, and Saturday, March 11, where participants pick up their race number. The free event is open to the public and features dozens of brands and exhibitors with a variety of health and wellness products.

Race day begins with the 5K at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday at the Portland Waterfront Park, the first of six events taking place throughout the day. The Shamrock Showdown 8K is set to begin at 10:10 a.m. and welcomes some of the fastest runners in Portland.
