Sea to Summit Provides all US Employees a Paid Day Off to Vote on November 3rd

October 29, 2020

Boulder, CO (October 29, 2020) — Sea to Summit, the global adventure equipment brand headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, is encouraging civic responsibility by providing its entire US-based staff a paid day off on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The company made the announcement last week that it would provide everyone the day-off with full pay in order to encourage participation in the 2020 election.

North American General Manager, Josh Simpson, said of the policy: “Part of our ethos has always been to equip and inspire. This is an opportunity for us to turn that concept inward and ask how we can ‘equip and inspire’ our employees to participate in a fundamental civic responsibility. We expect voting this year to take more time than usual, which is why we felt providing our employees a full-day was necessary.”

Sea to Summit encourages all US-based outdoor businesses to consider doing the same. Sea to Summit is proud to join a broader coalition of businesses including Pocket Outdoor Media, Patagonia, Arc’teryx, Burton, Deuter USA, Eddie Bauer, Smith Optics, and VF Corporation, which have registered their commitment on MakeTimetoVote.org, a nonpartisan, business-led initiative to help ensure employees across America don’t have to choose between voting and earning a paycheck.

Sea to Summit employs over 200 people worldwide, about 40 of which are located within the USA. The company, based in Western Australia, recently completed the acquisition of its US distributor this past summer. As part of that strategy, Sea to Summit sought to keep the US team — based in Boulder, CO — intact to support continuity and the momentum of the brand in North America.

Sea to Summit hopes that all its staff will vote early, vote safely, and encourage their network of friends, family and colleges to do the same.
