RunSignup Cancels 2020 Summer Symposium to Focus on Coronavirus Response

March 24, 2020

Moorestown, NJ – With the endurance industry facing uncertainty due to COVID-19 and related restrictions on gatherings, RunSignup has announced they will not hold a 2020 Summer Symposium. The biannual RunSignup Symposiums are an educational and networking opportunity for race directors, timers, and nonprofits; this year, RunSignup will shift their focus to providing virtual tools and resources to help the endurance industry navigate the coronavirus crisis.

RunSignup Founder and CEO Bob Bickel said, “We look forward to bringing together our customers and partners each summer, but we believe there are more pressing issues for the industry this year. We have been incredibly impressed by the creative solutions we are seeing, and by the amazing efforts to keep communities active and engaged in the absence of in-person events. For now, we’re looking forward to using technology and virtual education to encourage and support our customers.”

RunSignup has released several tools to help races mitigate the impact of the coronavirus, including a Postponement Pop-Up Tool for race websites, easier Virtual Results, and RaceJoy for Virtual Events. Additionally, they are maintaining a coronavirus site as resource hub for best practices and fresh ideas for races.

Attendees who previously registered for the 2020 Summer Symposium will be refunded in full, and information about additional options for education will be released as it is available. For frequent updates, visit https://runsignup.blog/.
