RRCA Accepting Applications to Host a 2023 RRCA Championship Events

Designations will be granted to top races ranging from 1 mile to Ultra at both the Regional and State level

Arlington, VA /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The RRCA Championship Event Series is the largest grassroots-organized running series in the US, spotlighting over 200 races that attract nearly 300,000 participants. RRCA Championship Events are selected annually at the State, Regional, and National level through a competitive bidding process. RRCA is inviting members to bid on hosting a 2023 RRCA Championship Event at the Regional or State level. Selected events will join the previously announced 2023 RRCA National Championship Events to round out the series for the coming year.

RRCA Championship designations will be awarded for the following distances at the State and Regional level:

  • 1 Mile
  • 5 K
  • 10 K
  • 10-Mile
  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
  • Marathon (26.2 miles)
  • Ultra (any distance over 26.2 miles)
  • Cross Country (variable distance; only one event)

Regional Championship bid deadline – November 1, 2022

State Championship bid deadline – December 1, 2022

The goal of the RRCA Championship Event Series is to celebrate and shine a spotlight on well-run, community-focused events and to award top runners in the open, 40+, 50+, and 60+ categories for men and women.  Awards for a top finisher in a non-binary division along with a challenged athlete division are provided by RRCA upon request by events.

Races selected for the RRCA Championship Event Series are eligible for sponsored items including RRCA Championship medals, RRCA Championship race bibs, and RRCA signage. Races that meet certain qualifications are eligible to receive free Gatorade product and cups.

Review the Championship Bidding Information & Instructions and submit a bid to host a Championship Event. Only current RRCA member clubs and events may bid to host an RRCA Championship.
