Outspoken Women in Triathlon Summit Returns Bigger than Ever

June 22, 2021

The 2021 Summit will be hybrid, combining the ability to attend from anywhere with real life connection

Denver, Colorado, USA — June 22, 2021 — The Outspoken: Women in Triathlon Summit is back after sold-out summits in 2018 and 2019. Registration is now open for the 2021 event, which will assist attendees in understanding how they can contribute to women’s leadership, equity and fulfillment of physical potential after a slow year for the sport.

The theme of the 2021 event is “Back in the Blocks” and will focus on restarting, rebuilding, and most of all, reconnecting. The event will have both online and in-person components.

Topics will include women’s specific nutrition, how to center equity in your triathlon club, avoiding ableism, using sport for social activism and more. The 2021 summit will offer participants the chance to re-envision triathlon with equity at its center and leave with tangible ways to move forward in their circles of influence. Participants will have access to the live sessions as well as to the recorded sessions after the Summit is over. The Summit will be held November 12-14, 2021, and will again feature the wildly popular Outspoken Women in Triathlon Awards Ceremony. Registration for the Outspoken Summit is open now at outspokensummit.com.

“We are so excited to come back for 2021 after 2020 and a tumultuous year for the triathlon industry. We know our community is yearning to reconnect and is more committed than ever to change the conversation in triathlon about women’s equity and more broadly, inclusivity,” said summit cofounder Dr. Lisa Ingarfield. “With COVID-19 hitting women the hardest economically, our decision to host virtually opens up access to our Summit to folks who may otherwise not have been able to attend. We are excited to expand access, which is inextricably tied to equity, and extend our connection with triathletes, coaches, and industry professionals committed to shifting the culture of the sport.”

Dr. Sara Gross, summit cofounder, Feisty CEO, and Ironman champion commented,

“We held an open mic meeting with our Outspoken community last week and it was clear that folks are ready to reconnect and truly get “Back in the Blocks” when it comes women’s equity, inclusion, and leadership. I’m excited about the hybrid format for 2021 since it allows us to open our community doors to a wider group of people while also providing the much-needed connection of an in-person event. I can’t wait to see everyone virtually and in real life.”

Tickets for the virtual event are now available and can be upgraded later to the in-person event.
