Orange Mud Renews Sponsorship with The Mid South

February 27, 2020

Orange Mud, a premier outdoor gear company, is a proud sponsor of The Mid South, formerly known as Land Run. “We love this event” said Josh Sprague, CEO of Orange Mud. “It’s one that has runners and riders of all types that are simply out to have an amazing day on dirt, followed by an amazing festival of course.” This event also serves as a meetup for the Orange Mud Dirt Unit ambassadors where a large group turn out to ride, run, and tackle The Double. There’s sure to be plenty of our packs out on course!

The Mid South, formerly known as Land Run, started out in 2013 as a ride with friends and has now grown to over 2700 riders and 350 runners. Between the bike race and the foot race, entrants will be coming from 47 states, Canada, Brazil, Belgium, Denmark, England, and Australia. Every year, the weather has been a defining characteristic of the event. When rain falls on Oklahoma red dirt, the roads become unforgiving and, in some cases, un-rideable. Stories of ruined derailleurs and miles-long sections of hike-a-bike through “peanut butter mud” that can swallow a shoe have become staples of the experience. But even when Oklahoma gravel is hard-packed, dusty, and fast – as it is most of the year – losing yourself on these country roads can evoke strength, grit, and resolve that you never knew you possessed. The spirit of The Mid South is found in the will to redefine what is possible.

The Mid South serves up a 100 and 50 mile cycling distance, a 50k ultramarathon foot race, and The Double where participants will run the 50k on Friday March 13th and ride the 100 mile course on Saturday March 14th, 2020.

About Orange Mud: Orange Mud was founded in 2012 by Josh Sprague after being driven to “Innovation through Frustration.” After years of Adventure Racing, Mountain Biking, Running and Triathlon, Josh needed a stable, comfortable, and functional pack that just wasn’t available on the market. Starting with a single bottle carrier prototype and growing to now offer over 50 hydration packs and accessories, the mission of Orange Mud has remained the same. Create innovative products that work just as well for the elite runner as the person at the back of the pack who’s spending the most amount of time testing the true limits of themselves and their gear!
