More than 2,500 Show Love for Miami at Sold-Out 305 Half Marathon & “305K” produced by Life Time

Nacho Hernando Angulo and Caroline LeFrak Claim First Place in Men’s and Women’s Divisions

MIAMI, Fla., Mar. 3, 2020 —the 2020 305 Half Marathon and 5K, aptly dubbed 305K, produced by Life Time took place in sunny Miami Sunday morning. More than 2,800 gathered at Lummus Park to take part in the event, which aims to capture the spirit of the 305 and celebrate all things local. The event features a fast and flat loop course that boasts world-renowned views along the MacArthur and Julia Tuttle causeways, passing through the Wynwood Edgewater district and skirting the Miami Beach Golf Course.

Exactly 2,842 toed the line, with 1,865 taking off for the half marathon start at 6:15 a.m. followed by 977 305K participants at 6:30 a.m. The gender mix between both events was 49 percent male and 51 percent female. The youngest participant on course was 3 years old while the oldest was 80.

In the men’s division, Nacho Hernando Angulo, 26, of Miami, Fla., broke the finish tape at 1:07:23 to claim first place. Hernandez was followed by Francisco Urbano Sales, 33, of Nerja, Spain, who crossed the finish line at 1:14:01 to secure second place. Tomas Mengoni, 38, of Neuchatel, Switzerland, placed third with a time of 1:15:28.

In the women’s division, Caroline LeFrak, 36, of New York, N.Y., earned first place with a time of 1:18:34. Second place was secured by Anja Sherry, 29, of Miami Beach, Fla., who crossed the finish line at 1:21:44. Andrea Hunter, 28, of Weston, Fla., placed third with a time of 1:23:07.

“This is a really great event because it has its own kind of energy. It’s fun, exciting and unique, just like Miami,” said Frankie Ruiz, Chief Running Officer at Life Time. “The common factor for runners today is love for their city, and there’s a lot worth celebrating here in the 305.”

New this year, the overall first place male and female winners of the half marathon along with the first male and female Miamians to cross the finish each received $305. The 305th participant of the half marathon distance to cross the finish also claimed $305.The celebration continued on South Beach at the post-race beach party with bloody mary bar, Michelob ULTRA beer garden, Yasso frozen yogurt, Air Relax compression boots and more.
