August 5, 2022

Runners can compete in the Mile Race, 10K, Half-Marathon or Marathon (or combination)!

Boston, MA (August 5, 2022)/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Marathon Tours & Travel (MTT) once again was awarded the exclusive tour operator for the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge (BTC), which will take place during the Martin Luther King Holiday Weekend (January 13-15). A VIP Package is available offering features that makes a runner’s race weekend extra special such as accommodations at the deluxe Hamilton Princess & Beach Club. After the race postponement for two years due to the global pandemic, MTT has seen great interest in participation for the January 2023 event.

MTT’s Founder and Chairman, Thom Gilligan, conceived of the three-day BTC idea more than a decade ago. Since then, runners have flocked to this island paradise to enjoy the warm Bermudian hospitality.

“It’s ideal running weather and the island presents the perfect opportunity for New Englanders (and others coming from cold winter temperatures) to escape to this magical place, “stated Gilligan.

The BTC is a three-day event, which includes the Bank of Butterfield Front Street Mile on Friday evening (January 13), the BF&M 10K on Saturday morning (January 14), and the PwC Half-Marathon and PwC Marathon on Sunday morning (January 15). Events will be ramped up surrounding the race weekend, including the Welcome Event, Pasta Party and Finish Festivals with complimentary refreshments courtesy of Gosling’s Rum.

The BTC is Bermuda’s only International Running event established in 1975 and has been deemed Signature Sporting event on the Tourism Calendar by the Bermuda Tourism Authority. More than 1500 runners are expected from approximately 20 countries, with about 850 international participants.

“We hope this event will be as fun and special for participants as it is for us. In addition to running and enjoying the scenic race courses, we encourage visitors to take time to enjoy our unparalleled hospitality, compelling heritage, shopping, arts and fine dining.  Whether a first-time visitor to our island or veteran participant, we know they will leave Bermuda with new memories and friends,” shared Hazel Clark, Director of Sports & Business Development for Bermuda Tourism Authority, 3X US OLYMPIAN (00, 04,08)

“We are happy to welcome runners back to our island for the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge and we look forward to sharing our amazing race weekend. This is the second year on our re-imagined marathon race course, which takes runners on a wonderful journey through some of the most picturesque backdrops in the world.  Our goal is to ensure that our visiting runners experience the island with suggested itineraries and “must-see sights”.  We want our overseas runners to not only enjoy the running, but also the island and all that is has to offer. This is not just another race – you will be Running in PARADISE!” says Race Director, Mark Harris.
