Jack & Jill’s Downhill Marathon to Race Into The Poconos in June

February 6, 2024

Registration is now open for one of USA Endurance Events’ biggest races of the year

POCONO, PA /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – On your mark. Get set. Go! USA Endurance Events, a road race company offering one-of-a-kind racing experiences in select cities throughout the U.S., will hold its Jack & Jill’s Downhill Marathon in the Pocono Mountains on Saturday, June 1.

Since 2013, USA Endurance Events has hosted a series of “race-cations” each year in cities including Dallas, Key West, Martha’s Vineyard, San Diego, Seattle, The Hamptons, Washington, and more. Like its sister race, the Jack & Jill’s Downhill Marathon & Half Marathon in Washington, the Poconos race is primed to become an East Coast favorite and a top Boston Marathon-qualifying course.

The course, which is a hard-packed trail with a -1% consistent net drop, starts south of White Haven, hugs the beautiful Lehigh River, cruises down the D&L Trail through Jim Thorpe, and finishes in Lehighton.

Registration for the event is open through May 31. The fee to register is $129 (price will increase after Feb. 29), and participants can use promo code SILVER at check out for $10 off. Every participant will receive pre-race bus transportation from the finish line to the start, race bib, timing chip, and pace band, custom water-wicking race shirt, custom race bag with swag, a race medal at the finish, and free race photos.

“What sets us apart from other races is that we have no desire to be another mega race company,” said Lee Ann Yarbor, Owner and Race Director of USA Endurance Events. “We think about our runners and what they want. We feel our participants work hard and spend money traveling to our events. We want to reward them with cool, quality swag, and an experience they’ll never forget.”

An avid runner and California native, Yarbor has run more than 60 marathons in 38 states. She started coaching running clubs in San Diego more than a decade ago. After launching her own running club, San Diego Run Club, in 2012, she decided to set her sights on creating San Diego’s first Holiday Half Marathon. When the race began selling out each year, she knew it was time to start launching other races throughout the country.

Yarbor said the team chose the Poconos for the June race because of its picturesque scenery, vibrancy, and charm.

“It doesn’t get much more gorgeous than the course we have planned along the D&L Trail,” Yarbor said. “This is such a beautiful part of the country and there are so many people here with a real passion for this sport. My goal is to see these races continue to grow and change people’s lives. We want to keep adding more and more runners each year so they can live and accomplish their dreams of crossing that finish line.”
