SAN DIEGO, Calif. – June 10, 2021 – HART™ Eyewear, the independent San Diego-based eyewear company, has officially launched their highly anticipated blue-light filtering glasses. With the debut collection, Founder Steve Hart set out to change the game when it comes to protective lenses for the modern era, all while prioritizing causes close to his heart.
HART was born out of wanting better products built for our new reality since the start of the pandemic in 2020. Steve began noticing the strain on his eyes after shifting his yoga studio to online classes. Suddenly, the muscles he’d been focusing on were not the ones tiring him out. Without the right protection, his eyes were growing weary from all the screens. “For the last year, much like everyone else, I’ve been stuck behind a screen. I started feeling the effects.” says the founder and CEO.
Unable to find glasses he could count on, the entrepreneur decided to take matters into his own hands. The brand’s high-tech glasses use proprietary technology to protect your eyes from the screens’ most harmful rays. Unlike most other blue-light lenses that use dyes or filter-coatings, HART’s unique technology infuses a blue-light blocking compound into the lens material itself, inherently creating a higher level of protection with less color distortion. In addition, the innovative company has developed a second lens designed specifically for nighttime usage. Their Sleep Lens focuses on protecting healthy melatonin production, offering better, deeper sleep uninterrupted by the strain of your screen.
But HART doesn’t just stop there. Coinciding the launch with the celebration of this past weekend’s World Environment Day (June 5, 2021), they strive to source recycled and sustainably made materials and continue looking for new ways to decrease their carbon footprint. HART eyewear features cellulose acetate frames made with plant-based material. In addition, all of their cases, microfiber cloths, packaging, inserts, and branded material are made with recycled materials and processed with minimal, low-waste shipping. “We spent a lot of time really working on being as sustainable as possible, finding all these different materials, and putting it all together, but we felt like that wasn’t enough. We wanted to do more. We wanted to give back.”
