Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run Partners with Girls On The Run

June 3, 2020

The fall favorite 5K teams up with the nonprofit girls empowerment program

NEW YORK – Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run, the popular and award-winning fall race, has teamed up with Girls on the Run, a nationally recognized Charlotte, NC based nonprofit that uses running and physical activity as a platform for teaching young girls essential life skills. The partnership will last throughout the 2020 fall season, including all 10 location-based races as well as the popular Virtual Run option. Girls on the Run will receive $1 per registration received from the events, as well as additional donations given by registrants when checking out for the event. Girls on the Run volunteers will also be present at all location-based events, helping organizers and participants alike navigate the fall themed 5K. Together with participant donations, Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run hopes to raise over $100,000 for Girls on the Run this fall.

“Girls on the Run is thrilled to serve as the charity partner for Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run, an incredible race series that promotes health and wellness through positivity and a love for the fall. The alignment that they share with our program’s goals of strengthening girls’ confidence and underscoring the important connection between physical and emotional health is remarkable and we are grateful for this opportunity!” said Liz Wian, Vice President of Partnerships and Development for Girls on the Run International.

“This is a partnership that we are so excited about! We’ve been looking for the right charity partner for a while, and we’ve always wanted one whose values lined up with ours. Beyond it being a perfect fit for Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run, on a personal level I believe in Girls on the Run so much and I am looking forward to seeing the impact we can make on their program!” added Sour Fish Events Co-Founder, Courtney Young.

Registration for Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run is now open, with the option to add additional donations at checkout.  For more information on Girls on the Run and their programming, you can visit: https://www.girlsontherun.org/. About Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run

Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run, formally The Great Pumpkin Run, is a 5K run that has taken place on farms, and in many major cities throughout the Midwest, East Coast, and South for the past 8 years. Runners receive a glass of apple cider and a pumpkin at the finish line, where they celebrate the best of the fall season with their friends and family. Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run also has a Virtual Run, wherein participants are able to complete the 5K and enjoy fall festivities within the comfort of their own neighborhood, on their own time.
