Good Grief! Run & Ride Race Series Celebrates Peanuts 70th Anniversary with Throwback Medals

February 12, 2020

Seventy years old and still running races! The Run & Ride Race Series, a running series in and around three U.S.-based Cedar Fair Amusement Parks, has just released its medals for the three Peanuts Run & Ride events in 2020 at Kings Dominion on June 6-7, 2020, Cedar Point on June 13-14, 2020, and California’s Great America (December date to be determined). All four medals, which connect via magnet to form a roller coaster, feature Peanuts gang characters as they appeared in the original 1950s comics.

In 1870—150 years ago—Cedar Point opened for its first season. In October 1950, the Peanuts comic debuted in seven newspapers. The 2020 Peanuts Run & Ride Race Series celebrates both milestones with lots of retro fun. Whether your run is 1 mile or a half marathon, Run & Ride has a finish-line celebration for you with a Peanuts character finisher medal specific to the race distance and a one-of-a-kind post-race experience—a ticket to the park, included with race registration. (Participants also can upgrade to a weekend park pass for only $15 more.)

Race participants can expect a high-quality event, with a great course through the parks and behind the scenes. In addition to the park ticket and unique collectible and connectable Peanuts finisher medal (and the opportunity to earn more than one at a discounted rate), racers receive a t-shirt, different Run & Ride related goodies based on distance choice, BibChip timing with on-site results, free parking at the park on race morning, post-race snacks, excellent value, and friendly customer service.

The weekend consists of the 1 mile and 5K events on Saturday and the quarter and half marathon on Sunday, and when participants are not racing, they can hit the park. Racers can bring friends and a family along, too. The parks offer a discount on park tickets for friends and family, and Cedar Point also provides hotel deals. The best weekend ever is practically guaranteed.

Many of us grew up with Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang in comics, in books, on TV, and at the movies, and we also grew up with trips to the amusement park. For race participants, the opportunity to run through the park brings back childhood memories of fun on the rides and with family. The Peanuts Run & Ride’s choices of race distances (half marathon, quarter marathon, 5K, and 1 mile) and option to participate in more than one event allows the nostalgia, energy, and fun to return—and to be shared with friends and family.

Peanuts Run & Ride brings half marathons, quarter marathons, 5Ks, and 1-mile fun runs with the best swag and post-race entertainment around—a run through amazing amusement parks with park admission included. The race series is directed by Adventure Enablers, a small family business in Virginia. Learn more at www.runandriderace.com and www.facebook.com/runandriderace.
