Evan Perperis Completes First-Ever OCR Everest Challenge on Tough Mudder Course

June 6, 2022

Perperis Fundraising for the Infinite Hero Foundation in Support of U.S. Veterans and Their Families

BOSTON, Mass. (June 6, 2022)/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Tough Mudder, the global leader in obstacle course adventures, today announced that Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) endurance athlete Evan Perperis has become the first person to complete the Everest Challenge on an obstacle course. Perperis completed the challenge on Tough Mudder’s New England course in Stratton, VT. on June 4th and 5th, repeating the course – and its obstacles – to total the height of Everest, 29,029 feet of ascent.

Perperis, who is an active duty Army Special Forces soldier with a cumulative 44 months of combat deployments, created this unique version of the Everest challenge to raise money for the Infinite Hero Foundation, a Tough Mudder partner that advocates for veterans’ needs and dedicates resources to support their mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. His fundraiser is currently active and accepting donations through GoFundMe’s charity portion of their website.

“Evan is a longstanding member of the Tough Mudder community and he never ceases to surprise and amaze us with his accomplishments,” said Tough Mudder CEO Giles Chater. “Our New England course had about 1,300 feet of elevation gain, and paired with the world’s best obstacle courses, it was no easy feat. Evan’s dedication to repeatedly tackling the course underscores the importance of the Infinite Hero Foundation and its mission to provide support for U.S. veterans and military families.”

Since 2016, Evan “Ultra-OCR Man” Perperis has completed annual fundraisers that involve a self-created endurance event focused on Ultra-OCR. Over the past six years, he has raised more than $26,000 for veterans and their kids.

“As an active duty member of the US military who has lost friends and coworkers overseas, supporting wounded veterans and their families is a high priority for me.  They didn’t have the opportunity to come home, or came home not at 100%, so I try to live my life to make up for what they may be missing,” said Evan Perperis. “My first charity event started in 2016 at Tough Mudder New England and I’m happy to bring it full circle this year after doing events like 24 hours of treadmill OCR, 48 hour multi-lap and 8 days of OCR marathons in winter. There’s no better group of people to share this event with than the Tough Mudder community, which is known for helping people achieve their personal best whatever that may be.”
