ElliptiGO Bike for Humanity II with Bill Walton and Friends Sets Participation Records

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (July 30, 2020)ElliptiGO Inc., creator of the world’s first elliptical bicycle, is proud to announce that the ElliptiGO Bike for Humanity II cycling event with Bill Walton and Friends (www.bikeforhumanity.com) held on Saturday, July 25th, 2020 set records for participation. More than 1,700 riders from more than 20 countries around the world participated, besting April’s inaugural Bike for Humanity event in both categories.

Joining Walton in participating in the event were marathon legend Meb Keflezighi, winner of the Boston Marathon and New York City Marathon, who rode 26.2 miles on his ElliptiGO long-stride bike in Tampa, Florida and world famous ultramarathoner Dean Karnazes, who rode 20 miles on his ElliptiGO MSUB in Marin, California.

In keeping with social distancing practices, all ElliptiGO Bike for Humanity II participants were empowered to choose where, when and how far to ride on July 25th and were encouraged to ride alone or stay at least 6’11”, Bill Walton’s height, apart during the ride. ElliptiGO riders helped raise over $30,000 towards the cause, and all proceeds  from the ElliptiGO Bike for Humanity II event benefited The Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Free Bikes 4 Kidz, No Kid Hungry and The Rex Foundation.

Based in Minneapolis, Free Bikes 4 Kidz is a national organization that collects used bicycles, rehabilitates them with the help of volunteers, and then gives those bikes away to kids in communities around the country. No Kid Hungry is a national campaign run by Share Our Strength, a nonprofit working to solve problems of hunger and poverty in the United States and around the world.
