Elite Teams Israel-Premier Tech and Team Jayco AlUla Added to the Line-up for September’s Maryland Cycling Classic

U.S.A’s Team Skyline, Project Echelon Racing, CORRATEC SELLE ITALIA and a composite U.S. National Team also added to the field

15 JUNE 2023, BALTIMORE, Maryland /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Maryland Cycling Classic, presented by UnitedHealthcare, America’s top cycling race and highest-ranked UCI event, today announced six additional teams that will compete at the second annual event, scheduled for September 3, 2023.

WorldTour Team Jayco AlUla will be joined by ProTour team Israel-Premier Tech, Italy’s ProTour team CORRATEC SELLE ITALIA, U.S. Pro Continental Team Skyline and U.S. Continental team Project Echelon Racing along with the USA Cycling National Team, comprised of top domestic Elite riders. The 120.4-mile (194 km) race, which starts in Baltimore County at Kelly Benefits headquarters in Sparks and routes into Central Baltimore for four circuits, will finish in the Inner Harbor area. Two additional teams are expected to be added later this summer to round out the 17-team field.

“It’s great to welcome back the team of 2022 winner Sep Vanmarcke, Israel-Premier Tech, and WorldTour squad Jayco-AlUla of Australia, which last year featured Michael Matthews and Dylan Groenewegan,” said John Kelly, Chair of the Maryland Cycling Classic and Chief Innovation & Strategy Officer at Kelly Benefits. “We’ve also added a quality ProTour team in Corratec Selle Italia while continuing the tradition of inviting more of America’s top teams in Skyline and Project Echelon. And we will again feature Team USA, which will bring a team made up of top young American talent providing them an opportunity to race against some of the world’s top talent.”

The Maryland Cycling Classic is part of the prestigious UCI Pro Tour and is already one of the top-ranked events in North and South America. Previously announced: WorldTour teams Trek-Segafredo and EF Education EasyPost, America’s top ProTour series team Human Powered Health and Team Novo Nordisk, as well as U.S. Pro Continental teams L39ION of Los Angeles and Hagens Berman Axeon along with international squads Toronto Hustle (CAN) and Team Medellín-EPM (COL), the world’s second-ranked Continental level team.

Trek Segafredo and EF Education EasyPost have been on early-season tears this year and are among the top-ranked teams in the world. Trek Segafredo’s Toms Skujins finished fourth and EF Education EasyPost’s Neilson Powless third in last year’s Maryland Cycling Classic.

The Maryland Cycling Classic offers fans four days of free family-friendly community events over Labor Day weekend, including an interactive Health and Wellness Festival, community bike ride, team presentation event, and local food and drinks, along with other activities. Coined “the biggest block party in Baltimore”, the Maryland Cycling Classic seeks to provide fans with multiple ways to actively experience and engage with the world-class competition.

Sanctioned by the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) and USA Cycling, the Maryland Cycling Classic, presented by UnitedHealthcare is managed by Medalist Sports, LLC of Peachtree City, Ga., and marketed and publicized by KOM Sports Marketing of Colorado Springs, Colo.
