Elite Official Partner of 15 Virtual Tour de France Teams for Virtual Tour de France on Zwift

July 7, 2020

FONTANIVA, ITALY — Elite announces their official partnership with 15 Virtual Tour de France Teams for the Virtual Tour de France on Zwift. The month of July usually means one thing for the cycling world: Tour de France. However, fans will have to wait until the end of August to witness the world’s most beloved stage race, due to COVID-19. On the other hand, things are different in the virtual e-racing world and Elite Cycles is proud to be a part of it.

The Virtual Tour de France started over the weekend of July 4-5 and will take place through the next two weekends (11-12, 18-19).  The ASO-organized charitable competition on Zwift will see the greatest male and female pro team champs compete on e-racing over a special Zwift-designed course, created for the Virtual Tour de France.

The Virtual Tour de France includes 6 stages. The first 2 took place in Watopia, the virtual world created by Zwift for the users of its community, and included many callbacks to the real ‘Grand Départ’ in Nice. The race moves on to France this week on a map specifically created by Zwift for its Tour, while the goal will resemble the last course in Paris around the Champs-Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe.

More than half of the teams joining in are Elite teams and will race on the Virtual Tour de France with the latest models of Elite’s home trainers, the Suito and the Direto X.

The list of partner teams is impressive. Male teams include AG2R La Mondiale, Arkea-Samsic, Bahrain McLaren, CCC Team, Cofidis, Groupama-FDJ, Team Sunweb, l’Israel Start-Up Nation, la Circus – Wanty Gobert and B&B Hotels – Vital Concept. Female teams include Arkea, ALE BTC Ljubljana, FDJ – Nouvelle Acquitaine – Futuroscope, Team Sunweb and Valcar – Travel & Service.

Just like on the TdF, all teams’ greatest champs will compete to win the yellow, white, green and polka-dots jersey. The race will be streamed on the Global Cycling Network app and also televised in more than 130 countries, such as on Eurosport in Europe, EurosportAsia in Asia, NBCSN in the US, FloBikes in Canada, SBS in Australia, Zhibo.tv in China and J Sports in Japan.

In addition to this, the Virtual Tour de France will also be opening up to amateurs with the Virtual l’Etape du Tour de France, where all cyclists will have the chance to race on a Tour stage released by Zwift every week (for instance, the first will be the second stage of the Virtual Tour).

This is a great chance to watch some of the greatest athletes in cycling and race them on your own bike/home trainer set-up.

HOME TRAINERS TO BE RIDDEN BY ELITE TEAMS

Direto X and Suito are at the moment the latest models of the Elite interactive home trainers. They’re both highly accurate direct drive home trainers with a great pedalling feeling. Resistance is electronically managed by connecting to your devices to adjust it based on the set course, be it GPS or a Zwift course. Both models feature high power output and perfectly simulate steep gradients.

Direto X features and integrated power meter that measures the actual power output for highly accurate workouts. Suito is compact and easy to use: legs and 11-speed cassette are pre-assembled so installation times are greatly reduced.
