Chicago Fire FC Names Nix Biosensors a Proud Supplier for Team Hydration Optimization

July 24, 2025

The partnership will bring real-time hydration intelligence to athletes in both training and competition through Nix Pro, led by Director of Player Wellness Darcy Norman.

BOSTON, MASS (July 24, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ Nix Biosensors, the leading provider of cutting-edge hydration monitoring technology, today announced a new partnership with Chicago Fire FC. As heat-related stress and performance fatigue become growing areas of interest across global soccer, Chicago Fire FC is taking action. The club has named the real-time hydration technology company a Proud Supplier and is bringing its Nix Pro platform to the team’s first squad.

The unique partnership gives Chicago Fire access to real-time sweat analytics by monitoring fluid loss, electrolyte depletion, and skin temperature across each player. This data enables the high performance team to build individualized hydration strategies that help reduce fatigue, improve recovery, and maintain peak performance in both training and competition. Chicago Fire FC will also implement Nix during matches, using live hydration data to inform in-game and halftime interventions.

“Hydration is one of the most controllable aspects of player performance and recovery, but it’s often overlooked or generalized,” said Darcy Norman, Director of Player Wellness at Chicago Fire FC. “With Nix Pro, we’re getting objective, individualized data that allows us to tailor hydration recommendations for each player, based on how they actually sweat in various weather conditions, altitudes and levels of effort. That precision gives us a competitive edge and supports player health in both training and match conditions.”

Norman, a globally respected performance leader with experience at FC Bayern Munich, AS Roma, the U.S. Men’s National Team, and the 2014 World Cup-winning German National Team, has been the driving force behind bringing Nix to the Fire. His commitment to innovation and player health makes this adoption a significant signal to soccer clubs worldwide.

“Soccer is a game of high-speed decision making under physical stress. Even mild dehydration can impair both body and brain,” said Meridith Cass, CEO and Founder of Nix. “By putting hydration science directly into the hands of elite athletes and performance staff, we’re helping clubs like Chicago Fire make smarter decisions that protect player health and extend careers.”

Through the Nix Pro dashboard, Chicago Fire’s performance staff can conduct sweat testing, track hydration metrics, and build player-specific fluid and electrolyte plans, all in real time. The system is especially valuable during high temperatures, congested match periods, and travel-heavy stretches of the MLS season.

As climate conditions, match intensity, and player workloads continue to evolve, Chicago Fire is leading the way with a science-backed approach to athlete care.
