CADEX Expands Road Wheel Product Line with the CADEX 36 Disc

May 25, 2021

The CADEX 36 Disc WheelSystem is a super light, versatile, and impressively stiff wheel made for big days on the bike.

(May 25, 2021) —CADEX, the manufacturer of high-performance cycling products, announced today the launch of their new CADEX 36 Disc Wheel System. At 1302g for the set, these superlight hookless carbon wheels feature a best-in-class stiffness-to-weight ratio and have been designed for riders demanding quick acceleration, exceptional efficiency, as well as reliable stability and control on a wide variety of roads. The CADEX 36 Disc WheelSystem will be available starting this Summer from select authorized CADEX retailers and at www.cadex-cycling.com.

The CADEX 36 Disc WheelSystem features a number of industry-leading technologies to help riders perform their best whether climbing, sprinting, or descending. Fast acceleration and a distinct, snappy ride quality stems from CADEX’s custom-engineered Dynamic Balanced Lacing (DBL) technology, while the wheel’s reinforced carbon lay-up and high-tensile strength carbon aero spokes deliver a transmission stiffness that is 40% better than similar competitive wheelsets.[1]

Additionally, The CADEX 36 Disc delivers superior efficiency by keeping wheel flex to a minimum, which results in a lateral stiffness-to-weight ratio that is 30% better than competitively priced wheels.[2]Additionally, the CADEX 36 Disc makes use of the brand’s low friction R1-C30 hub and features ceramic bearings in lieu of steel to provide 1.5x smoother action.

With an inner rim width of 22.4mm, the CADEX 36 Disc WheelSystem also gives riders greater support for today’s high-volume tires while the 36mm rim depth provides riders with stability and control while encountering changing wind conditions on a wide variety of road surfaces.

“When we set out to design the new 36 Disc, our intention was to create a wheel that riders would choose for their biggest days on the bike,” commented Jeff Schneider, Head of Product and Marketing at CADEX. “The 36 utilizes much of the cutting-edge technology found in our other hookless WheelSystems, but the shallower depth and wider inner width combined with the addition of ceramic bearings results in greater versatility, performance, and efficiency for riders encountering a greater diversity of pitches and conditions on an all-day adventure.”

Key Features Include:

  • Hookless rim design with continuous carbon fiber structure
    • Provides a more durable rim construction as well as the best flow transition from the tire to the sidewall of the rim, resulting in reduced aerodynamic loss.
  • Aero carbon spokes
    • A purpose-designed aero shape offers excellent aerodynamic characteristics, superior stability in shifting winds and the lightest weight possible.
  • Custom-tuned Dynamic Balanced Lacing
    • Spokes set for optimal tension when under dynamic pedaling force versus when static, resulting in superior transmission stiffness and efficiency.
  • Low-friction hub with ceramic bearings
    • Precision machined internals eliminate excessive bearing load, reduce bearing friction and minimize rolling resistance.
  • Precision reinforced lay-up
    • High-tensile strength carbon fiber is reinforced only at the most crucial points for industry-leading stiffness and strength with no unnecessary weight.

In addition to the 36 Disc, CADEX also offers cyclists several other high-performance cycling components, including 42mm and 65mm hookless tubeless and tubular carbon road WheelSystems, 4-Spoke Aero and Aero Disc WheelSystems for TT and triathlon applications, Race and Classics tubeless tires, as well as the award-winning Boost saddle.

Dynamic Balanced Lacing and Low Friction Hub– Custom-engineered Dynamic Balanced Lacing (DBL) technology sets spokes at a wider bracing angle and for the same tension level under pedaling force, producing a stiffer, more efficient wheel while the precision machined, CADEX low friction R1-C30 hub reduces excessive bearing load, avoiding potential watt loss.

Faster AccelerationDynamic Balanced Lacing (DBL) delivers unbeatable acceleration while a reinforced carbon lay-up and high-tensile strength carbon aero spokes provide a superior transmission stiffness-to-weight ratio.

Ultra-Efficient– Superlight and stiff carbon spokes help minimize wheel flex for a best-in-class lateral stiffness-to-weight ratio; the low friction R1-C30 hub features ceramic bearings and 1.5x smoother action than steel.

Hookless Rim TechnologyCADEX hookless rim technology features a wide inner rim width and durable continuous carbon fiber structure, helping create a rounder tire shape for superior grip and handling plus added sidewall support for cornering, all without compromising on weight.

Stability & Control– Hookless rim technology and a wide 22.4mm inner rim width provide greater support for today’s high-volume tires, as class-leading lateral stiffness and a 36mm rim depth deliver outstanding control while cornering and descending, or in gusty winds.

[1]For transmission stiffness testing, the rear wheel is secured at the axle, the valve hole in the rim is fixed and torsional force is applied to the freehub. Internal testing demonstrated that the CADEX 36 Disc has a transmission stiffness-to-weight ratio that’s over 40 percent better than Bontrager AEOLUS RSL 37, Roval Alpinist CLX and Zipp 303 Firecrest Tubeless wheels.

[2]For lateral stiffness, both the front and the rear wheel are locked at the axle and lateral force is applied to the rim. Internal testing demonstrated that the CADEX 36 Disc has a lateral stiffness-to-weight ratio that’s up to 30 percent better Bontrager AEOLUS RSL 37, Roval Alpinist CLX and Zipp 303 Firecrest Tubeless wheels.
