Award Winning Film, All the Way: The Making of Swimrun Champions, Premieres March 24

March 19, 2021

San Francisco, CA (March 19, 2021)– All the Way: The Making of Swimrun Champions will hold its global virtual premiere on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Made by award-winning documentary filmmaker Carl Eneroth at Sthlm Social Innovation Lab, All the Way is a heart-pounding, intimate, and mind-expanding portrait of the Swimrun team of Pontus Lindberg and George Bjälkemo, as they prepare for their ultimate challenge: winning the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Championship. To date, All the Way has won four awards, and several runner-up selections, for Best Feature Documentary from film festivals around the world. The full list of awards and selections can be seen here.

“I made this film because I wanted to share my passion for Swimrun by showing what it takes to become an ÖTILLÖ World Champion, beyond just massive amounts of training and talent,” says Film Director Carl Eneroth. “It was a starting point that ended up with insights into the keys to explore the hero in all of us and access the superpowers we carry within.”

The ÖTILLÖ The Swimrun World Championship is the site of the original Swimrun event that started the sport 15 years ago. The World Championship is a 75km race where teams of athletes navigate across the Stockholm Archipelago swimming island to island. This full day event takes athletes cross 24 islands while running 65km and swimming 10km from Sandhamn to Utö.

All the Way is an exploration into what it takes to be a Swimrun champion, apart from hard training, as well as an inspiring portrait of a freedom seeking sub-culture craving for a direct, uncontrolled experience of nature, pushing beyond their own limits to feel more alive. The film includes race footage from Rasmus Lodenius of ÖTILLÖ and was co-produced by Ludvig Myrenberg.

“I hope that the audience will get to experience this fairly new sport from within the Swimrun community” says Eneroth. “But even more importantly, I hope the film will inspire people to try Swimrun with a friend and simply immerse themselves in nature for the sheer joy of it.”

The virtual premiere will take place on March 24, 2021 at 2:00PM EST. Everyone interested in attending can sign up here. The film will be available for rent or purchase on March 25, 2021. All profits from the film will be donated to Skärgårdsstiftelsen(The Archipelago Foundation) and their work to preserve and develop a genuine archipelago, protecting natural values that are appreciated by not only visitors, but also the flora and fauna.
