ROTH. (February 26, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – “The buzz around Roth is like no other race… I’m really excited to experience all this first hand.” With these words, Kat Matthews describes what she expects in Roth in 2026. Now her wish is finally coming true.

The highly decorated Brit is competing in DATEV Challenge Roth for the first time, full of anticipation for the legendary atmosphere, the impressive course, and the electrifying mood of the spectators.

Matthews wants to win DATEV Challenge Roth

In addition to the special atmosphere, Matthews is also coming to Roth to have a say in the sport’s top standings. “I’ve always wanted to race Roth, every athlete does, but what I really want is to win Roth. Records and splits are nice, but crossing the line first is what matters to me,” explains the 34-year-old.

There is no doubt Matthews has what it takes: she has stood at the top of the podium six times in Ironman races, including Ironman Texas and Ironman Florida. She has also finished second three times in the Ironman World Championships. With a best time of 8:05:13 hours, she achieved the third fastest time ever recorded in the long distance behind Laura Philipp and Anne Haug last year.

For Matthews, Roth is also about soaking up the race week and breathing in the spirit of the triathlon district. In her typically open manner, she adds: “If you see me at the venue, say hello. Meeting people is a huge reason to do an event like Roth.”

Race director Felix Walchshöfer is looking forward to the British athlete’s debut: “Kat not only has enormous talent, but also a great personality. We are proud that she is coming to Roth for the first time. I am sure that she will inspire the fans and the entire Home of Triathlon and will be able to fight for victory right from her debut.”
