Grant Fisher wants his Grand Slam Track money: “Tomorrow would be the last day before I think people get pretty upset.”
July 30, 2025
Thursday is the first day of the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field, a day that will conclude with Grant Fisher attempting to win a second consecutive national title in the men’s 10,000-meter final. Thursday is also July 31 — which is the day by which Grand Slam Track has committed to pay out the $3.15 million it owes in athlete prize money from its first meet, which was held from April 4-6 in Kingston, Jamaica.
Speaking on Wednesday afternoon, Fisher said that he has his “fingers crossed” that GST will make good on its promise.
GST committed to paying Kingston prize money by the end of July. But Fisher, who is owed $100,000 for that meet, said he has still not been paid. “It’s just going to be an all-around bad thing for the sport if things don’t come through.” LetsRun
