June 18, 2025

New date, format and GRVL® Femmes Team Challenge sets a new standard for all riders

Steamboat Springs, Colo., (June 18, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – On June 26-29 2,550 cyclists will participate in a sold out SBT GRVL® presented by Wahoo, the premier gravel cycling event. This year’s event aligns perfectly with Steamboat’s vibrant early-summer season and cyclists can expect optimal gravel road conditions while spectators can enjoy lively mountain-town energy. New for 2025, the ride and race components are formatted as separate events, enhancing the overall experience for both competitive and recreational cyclists.

On Saturday riders from around the world will challenge themselves on SBT GRVL’s famed Green, Red and Bluecourses that showcase the rural beauty of Routt County on its ‘champagne gravel roads’. Ranging from 37, 56 and 99 miles.

On Sunday’s pro and amateurs will toe the line on a new Black Course that starts and finishes 25 miles from Steamboat Springs in Hayden, Colorado. This undulating race course features 117 or 79 miles on fast champagne gravel with rolling climbs, quick descents and stunning rural scenery that will take racers through aspen, ranch land, and sage studded hills in rural Routt County. A neutral support station and spectator zone will make for the ultimate viewing experience. See the full course here and the list of the Elite Start List here.

GRVL® Femmes Team Challenge
Also new this year, SBT GRVL® created the GRVL® Femmes Team Challenge and opened additional spots for amateur female gravel racers to register for the sold out race. The event is designed in the spirit of Zwift’s Watch the Femmes movement to create a welcoming and empowering environment for amateur female cyclists by promoting team-based racing and community support. The GRVL® Femmes Team Challenge features a $3,000 prize purse for the top three fastest amateur women’s teams and a $500 prize for a team unity challenge.

With this event, SBT GRVL® is setting a new standard for innovation and inspiration in amateur women’s racing. Fostering a team-based approach, SBT GRVL® has already boosted female race participation to a record 32%, but also redefined the way women experience gravel racing—together.

Respect The Routt

It’s a privilege to ride and experience the beauty of Routt County and to acknowledge this and our core value of safety, all participants in the SBT GRVL® event sign the GRVL® Oath pledging to follow road rules, respect the land and be good ambassadors of the sport of cycling.

“SBT GRVL® has always been about more than just a gravel race and ride, it’s about connection to the cycling community and to the incredible landscape we’re fortunate to ride through,” said Amy Charity, Founding Partner and CEO of SBT GRVL®. “This year’s new ride and race format and the GRVL® Femmes Team Challenge reflect our ongoing commitment to inclusivity, safety, innovation, and deep appreciation for the Routt County community that makes this event so special. We’re proud to create a premier experience that continues to elevate the sport while respecting the place and people that make it possible and we’re excited to welcome riders and racers from around the world back to Steamboat Springs to experience what has become a defining celebration of gravel cycling.”
