2020 Fleet Feet Liberty Mile Now a Virtual Event
May 21, 2020
The virtual event will feature the first-ever Fleet Feet Liberty Mile race medal
PITTSBURGH (May 21, 2020) – P3R has announced that the 2020 Fleet Feet Liberty Mile, scheduled for July 24 in downtown Pittsburgh, will now be a virtual race. As an extra incentive, all participants who run the one-mile race virtually will receive the first-ever Fleet Feet Liberty Mile race medal.
“While we will miss the runners in downtown this year, we are excited to see them complete their Fleet Feet Liberty Mile from all across the country,” said Troy Schooley, P3R CEO. “Whether you’re running your very first mile, trying to set a personal record, or plan to cross your own special finish line as a family — we invite you to be part of this year’s Fleet Feet Liberty Mile!”
Participants can complete the 2020 Fleet Feet Liberty Mile in any place that works for them from July 20 through August 7, 2020. It can be done outdoors, at a track, or even on the treadmill. Participants can run it as fast or as slow as they like.
“No matter one’s age or ability, this is an ideal fitness distance for everyone and can challenge everyone in a different way,” said Bob Shooer, owner of Fleet Feet Pittsburgh. “We are excited to once again partner with P3R and help create an inspiring experience that keeps participants moving this summer.”
P3R will be sharing contests and activities for runners of all ages and abilities on social media and via email throughout the virtual event. Participants are encouraged to use #libertymile and tag @RUNwithP3R and @fleetfeetpitt on social media so others can follow along and celebrate their virtual race!
Participants will have the option to pick up their medal and shirt for free at Fleet Feet Pittsburgh (dates TBD) or have their medal and shirt shipped for $5. The 2020 Virtual Fleet Feet Liberty Mile is the second race of the 2020 #RUNwithP3R Challenge. Runners will earn a bonus medal if they completed a Virtual 2020 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon event, the Virtual Fleet Feet Liberty Mile and the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler (date TBD) in 2020.
