2020 Carmel Marathon Postponed to Sunday, June 14

March 18, 2020

CARMEL, Ind. – CRRG Events announced today that the 10th anniversary running of the Carmel Marathon has been moved from April 4 to Sunday, June 14. With state and local efforts to control the COVID-19 virus expanding quickly, race organizers worked with the City of Carmel, race medical officials and the Carmel Police and Fire Departments to make the most informed choice to help ensure the safety of participants, volunteers, spectators, and residents.

“Like our participants, we were disappointed to have to move the race to a later date, but we strongly feel it is the responsible thing to do, ” said Race Director Todd Oliver. “As an organization we have always been committed to staging safe events and it has become clear that holding the Carmel Marathon on April 4 would be impossible. At a time when resources such as medical teams, volunteers, and vendors are strained, we all have to do our part to try to stop the spread of this virus.”

“We understand a postponement might not work for some of our participants so we are providing options for all,” said Oliver. “For those still wanting to celebrate our event from afar, we are offering a virtual option. For others with date conflicts, we are offering the opportunity to defer to 2021. We have also reopened registration as many new runners are interested in joining our June date.”

“We appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding, and concern for all those affected during this stressful time,” said Oliver. “The 10th anniversary is an important milestone for many and we are happy that the City of Carmel was willing to work with us to secure a new date.”
