Leadville, Colo., June 18 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Life Time Leadville Trail Marathon and Heavy Half presented by La Sportiva welcomed a field of more than 1,600 runners to Leadville’s beautiful high country on Saturday. The marathon and half marathon events feature out-and-back courses that take runners across extreme singletrack terrain through the historic mining areas outside of Leadville, Colorado. Both courses top out at 13,185 feet at Mosquito Pass, the highest continuous pass in the country, and the event has been hailed as the highest start line for a trail Marathon in the USA. Life Time (NYSE: LTH), owner of the Leadville Race Series, welcomed runners ages 17 to 81 years of age from 47 states and eight countries at the event.

“What a tremendous record setting day! Not only two course records set in our men’s marathon and half marathon race, but an equally amazing and close race on the women’s side also,” said Tamira Jenlink, Race Director at Life Time. “While the weather was a consideration today, it turned out to be near perfect temperature for our athletes.”
