11th Annual Santa Run Silicon Valley Returns to San José

Santa Run returns in-person for the first time since COVID with proceeds going to San José Aspires

SAN JOSÉ, CA /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE – It’s time to harness the reindeer, set out the milk and cookies, and grab your running shoes–after a two-year pandemic hiatus, the Santa Run Silicon Valley is back in person! San José Mayor Sam Liccardo is happy to announce the return of the beloved run downtown after its pandemic-related hiatus. Santa Run started more than a decade ago, with thousands of Santa-dressed runners stampeding through Downtown, to a finish line at Christmas in the Park in Downtown San José. On December 11, Santa’s, Mrs. Claus’, elves, and more will descend upon downtown San José for the 11th annual Santa Run Silicon Valley. Proceeds from the run will go to San Jose Aspires.

“Silicon Valley Santa Run is returning with holiday cheer to our downtown this year, and for  a worthy cause, San Jose Aspires,” said Mayor Sam Liccardo. “San Jose Aspires is working to increase first-generation students access to college and post secondary education, so get your running shoes and Santa suits and help get these kids over the finish line!”

San José Aspires (SJ Aspires) was launched by San José Mayor Sam Liccardo in 2021. The program helps to provide first-generation high school students with a uniquely impactful experience by giving them access to a self-guided curriculum, supplemental college advising and guidance, and micro-scholarships as they become college and career-ready young adults.

The Santa Run Silicon Valley will include the following:

• 5K will start at 3:00 p.m. and begin downtown before following the Alameda
• Kids Fun Run for kids ages 2-7, at 4:00 p.m.

This year’s run was planned by the Office of San José Mayor Sam Liccardo, the City of San Jose, Carl Guardino, and Soul Focus Sports.
