Santini Apparel to outfit World Champion Couple

(Bergamo, Italy March 26, 2020) Santini Cycling Wear will outfit Ironman Champions Mirinda Carfrae and Timothy O’Donnell, whose combined career spans both ITU and Ironman world titles. The two-year partnership will showcase this dynamic duo in the new top of the line Santini X IRONMAN, custom cycling kits, and in line training gear. During the partnership both parties will be working together closely to create the next generation of performance apparel for long distance triathlon.

A couple with a shared passion for triathlon, Mirinda and Timothy are not just professional athletes with a plethora of prestigious wins in the sport but also share a family life.  This week Mirinda Carfrae and Timothy O’Donnell joined another family: Santini Cycling Wear, the Italian cycling and triathlon technical apparel company headed by sisters Monica and Paola Santini.

“We are honoured to be collaborating with athletes of Tim and Mirinda’s calibre and to welcome them into our big triathlete family – declared Paola Santini, Marketing Manager at Santini Cycling Wear – Both Tim and Mirinda are focused on delivering peak performance in competition and so are we. We are working with them on a new triathlon suit that will be unique of its kind and designed to deliver a major aerodynamic edge in the cycling stage.”

The teamwork and collaboration between the two athletes and Santini’s in-house product managers is helping to develop technical wear designed for the specific needs of athletes competing in the Ironman distance: “It doesn’t matter if you are a pro athlete or an amateur, everyone has a dream and we want to dress that dream to the very best of our ability,” said Paola Santini.

Aside from the new triathlon race gear, Timothy and Mirinda will also be receiving top-of-the-range Santini Custom cycling kit as well as various apparel from the summer 2020 collection. “The feedback at the end of their training will be pivotal to continuing the research and development process and meeting the athletes’ requirements both in competition and as they train for competition,” concluded Paola Santini.

Both Santini and the athletes are hugely enthusiastic about this new partnership as Timothy O’Donnell, a triathlete with 25 victories and more than 50 podium positions to his credit, including a prestigious second place in the Kona Ironman in 2019, explained:   “I am extremely excited for the opportunity to partner with Santini apparel and to compete in their new Ironman athlete-inspired triathlon suit. With fifty years of innovation in the cycling industry, Santini knows how to make fast and comfortable apparel for both training and racing.  Our partnership is the perfect opportunity to drive more awareness and exposure for the Santini brand in North America’s flourishing triathlon market. I’m thrilled to give the new triathlon collections a good run next month as I launch my 2020 season and, of course, on my road to Kona this October.”

Fellow triathlete and life partner Mirinda Carfrae, who’s career speaks for itself with over 50 victories including an Ironman 70.3 World Championship and 3 Ironman World Titles in Kona added:

“The Santini gear fits great and I love the designs. The team has really made us feel like part of the family and I look forward to working closely with Santini as Tim and I prepare for the 2020 season. I like their long-term vision and I am confident that Tim and I can make an immediate impact for the brand. Everyone we have worked with at Santini shares an amazing passion for the brand and creating innovative apparel.”

Santini Cycling Wear was founded in 1965 by Pietro Santini who spotted a market for technical cycling clothing as a result of his abiding passion for the sport and competition. In what would seem like a revolutionary and contrarian choice today, the Bergamo-based company made the pivotal decision to design and manufacture all of its products exclusively in Italy. Each item is designed and developed by a designer team with deep-rooted passion for the two-wheel world to meet four key requirements: fit, performance, comfort and durability. Santini currently produces 3,500 items of clothing per day and exports 80% of its output. It is deeply committed to ongoing investment in researching and developing innovative textiles and new production methods. However, people – athletes – remain its central focus as it continues to refine its creations to allow cyclists pursue their sporting passions in comfortable but inimitably stylish kit (www.santinicycling.com)
