UTMB® Mont-Blanc: registration is open

January 7, 2021

Everything’s ready for the 18th edition of the UTMB® Mont-Blanc. Registration will open in January, and will take place over 3 phases. This is the moment where runners and organization start preparing for the new edition of the event. After the cancellation of the 2020 UTMB® Mont-Blanc, the whole community hopes to return to the sporting event in August.

In order to make the entry process easier, qualifying points are valid for three years instead of two, allowing for runners to keep their points despite a blank year. Here are the requested qualifying points:

UTMB® : 10 points acquired between 01/01/2018 and 31/12/2020 (in 2 races maximum)
CCC® : 6 points acquired between 01/01/2018 and 31/12/2020 (in 2 races maximum)
TDS® : 8 points acquired between 01/01/2018 and 31/12/2020 (in 2 races maximum)
OCC : 4 points acquired between 01/01/2018 and 31/12/2020 (in 2 races maximum)

2017 finishers of the UTMB® races can also use these races as qualifying races.

Because of the exceptional situation in 2020, registration will take place over several phases depending on the runner’s situation:

Phase 1:  7-17  January  2021 – registration for:
UTMB®, CCC®, TDS®, OCC and PTL® runners registered in 2020
Runners who have collected  enough  Running Stones in 2020

Phase 2:  21-28  January  2021 - Pre-registration for the lottery for:
UTMB®, CCC®, TDS® and OCC runners not selected in the 2019 and 2020 lottery for the same race

Phase 3:  4-11  February 2021 - Pre-registration for the lottery - if there are still spots available – for:
UTMB®, CCC®, TDS®, OCC and PTL® runners not included in any of the above categories.

“We know that there are special conditions this year, but we are doing our best to give everyone a chance to participate while respecting the admnistrative rules per race and the spots reserved for 2020 runners following the cancellation of the event. We’re looking forward to seeing you again and wish you all the best of luck”, explains Catherine Poletti, President of UTMB Group.

Elite runners may also register between January 7 and 28 according to their ITRA performance index. Elite athletes meeting the following criteria may enter the 18th edition of the l’UTMB® Mont-Blanc:

Runners wishing to reserve a charity bib may also apply from January 7 to 28 and choose to help one of the 11 charitable associations supported by the UTMB® Mont-Blanc. This gives 160 participants the opportunity to run for a great cause. Here’s the list of the charity associations.

The 2021 UTMB® Mont-Blanc will take place from August 23 to 29 and will include 7 races: UTMB® (170km 10000mD+), CCC® (101km 6100mD+), TDS® (145km 9100mD+), OCC (56km 3500mD+), PTL® (300km 25 000mD+), MCC (40km 2300mD+) and YCC (15km 1200mD+).

The UTMB® Mont-Blanc organization will also share the 2021 regulations which runners agree to accept before registering. The organization thus details a list of measures that might be applied depending on the evolution of the health situation and health regulations in France, Switzerland and Italy. 2021 regulations are available for all runners to read; athletes who are already preparing their 2021 season may also check the 2022 entry process.
