USA Triathlon Launches New Associate Coach Certification

New Associate Coach Certification course provides introductory learning on coaching philosophy, training styles.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. .ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – USA Triathlon today announced the launch of a new Associate Coach Certification, offering members of the multisport community an entry point into coaching the sport and USA Triathlon’s Coach Development Pathway.

The Associate Coach Certification is developed for assistant coaches, high school coaches, parents or athletes helping to coach a triathlon team and are interested in USA Triathlon’s expert Coaching Education offerings. As an introduction to coaching multisport, the new online Associate Coach Certification course provides introductory information on coaching philosophy and training styles.

The online education of the Associate Coach Certification includes a general introduction to the different competition styles of multisport, with introductory courses on the swim, bike, run, and transition portions of a triathlon competition. Certified Associate Coaches are encouraged to work under the supervision of current USA Triathlon Level I Certified or higher coaches.

Once completed, the Associate Coach Certification is valid for four years. The recertification process includes the four-course Level I bridge series to become a USA Triathlon Level I Certified Coach. As part of the recertification cycles, coaches will progressively learn more about coaching triathlon, including strength, and conditioning and developing training programs.

The initial cost of Associate Coach Certification is $125.
