Tiger 10K returns to Death Valley

May 20, 2021

#RaceintoDeathValley will Finish on the 50 again!

Baton Rouge, LA (May 20, 2021) – Registration for the Fourth Annual Our Lady of the Lake Tiger 10K opens on Thursday, May 20th. The event, which features a 10K, 5K and a Kids Mile, will take place Sunday, Dec. 5, at the south gates of Tiger Stadium.

This year’s race returns to finish on the 50-yard line of Tiger Stadium. The event is also excited to continue the relationship with Our Lady of the Lake as the Title Partner of the race. “Finishing on the 50 is one of the marquee attractions for Tiger fans everywhere. The race finished outside the stadium in 2019 due to field renovations so we are thrilled to return,” said Mike Wattigny, Marketing Director, FRESHJUNKIE Racing.

Thousands of runners, joggers and walkers will enjoy a scenic tour of the LSU campus as they pass many of its historic landmarks including the University Lakes, Sorority Row, the Parade Grounds, the Bell Tower, and the Indian Mounds all before finishing inside Tiger Stadium. Upon crossing the Finish Line all participants will be awarded a commemorative finishers medal.

Registration opens online at www.Tiger10K.com on Thursday, May 20th. This year the event has partnered with the LSU Alumni Association and the Tiger Athletic Foundation for the Billy Cannon 5K. TAF supports LSU student-athletes in the classroom, on the field, and in life through programs like the Billy Cannon Memorial Endowment Scholarship. Learn more about the scholarship fund at lsutaf.org/projects/Cannon. “Billy Cannon believed in education and athletics.  The Cannon family is thrilled to be able to keep his legacy alive by partnering with FRESHJUNKIE Racing along with TAF and the Alumni Association to name this race after him.  Through this avenue we will be able to provide scholarships within both organizations for deserving students and student-athletes,” said Bunnie Cannon. Runners are encouraged to donate during registration and support these great partners doing amazing work for the LSU community.

Runners who register between May 20th and May 24th get the best rates of the year.  All participants will receive a commemorative shirt, finishers medal, chip timing, and the opportunity to enjoy the post-race party, which will take place outside the stadium and will feature food, beer, live music and have a tailgating ambience that is uniquely LSU. Finally, each participant will be provided a unique referral code that can be shared with their friends to invite them to join the Tiger 10K. With as few as five referrals, runners will receive a limited-edition event singlet or tank that is only available by recruiting fellow Tiger fans to register. Runners, joggers and walkers are invited to come #RaceintoDeathValley with us Sunday, December 5th  and earn the 2021 finisher medal as well as bragging rights that last a lifetime. This event is a production of FRESHJUNKIE RACING in cooperation with Louisiana State University Tiger Athletics. A portion of every registration dollar is directed to the LSU Life Skills Program as part of this partnership.

About FRESHJUNKIE Racing: FRESHJUNKIE Racing (FJR) is an endurance event production company specializing in road running races and triathlons.  Currently, FJR produces 16 events annually: 12 in Louisiana, 1 in Mississippi, and 3 in Alabama.  While 13 of the 16 events are company owned events, FJR does offer event services for organizations looking to outsource the production of their running race or triathlon.

FRESHJUNKIE Racing prides itself on attending to the small details.  Because they matter.  We are a production company made up of athletes that produce events for athletes. We know what it means to plan, train for and participate in events and we know what the small details are.  From initial planning, permitting, and overall event operations to graphic design, marketing and video production, we are a complete shop.  We are exhaustive in our preparation and comprehensive in our execution so that athletes can participate in experiential events they will remember for years to come. When the details are handled, FJR is simply a behind the scenes presence.  After all, the event is about the athlete, not us.  Athletes can focus on what they came to do and have confidence our event will surpass expectations.

We work hard, train hard, & race hard and never lose focus on our WHY – the reason we started doing this to begin with – because we love it.
