Veteran race operations leader joins senior leadership team to oversee the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon

LOS ANGELES, CA – May 6, 2025 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The McCourt Foundation (TMF) is thrilled to announce the promotion of Stacy Embretson to the position of Vice President / Race Director. In this expanded role, Stacy will continue to lead and elevate the operational excellence of TMF’s signature events, including the Los Angeles Marathon, the Santa Monica Classic, Rose Bowl Half Marathon, and the Boston Waterfront 5K while joining the senior leadership team that oversees the Foundation’s team, programs, events, and operations in Los Angeles and Boston.

Since joining the organization in 2008, Stacy has been an indispensable force behind the seamless execution and continued success of TMF’s portfolio of races. She has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, meticulous planning, and a deep commitment to runner experience.

In her previous role as Senior Director of Operations, Stacy expertly managed all facets of race operations and logistics for events ranging from 5K to the full marathon distance. Her responsibilities included course designs including key roles in the creation of the iconic “Stadium to the Sea” and the new “Stadium to the Stars” marathon courses, as well as the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials course in downtown Los Angeles.

Her proven ability to coordinate effectively with public safety officials underscores her exceptional organizational and collaborative skills. Stacy was recognized by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) with The Professional of the Year Award for outstanding leadership in addressing safety and security issues.

Beyond her race management responsibilities, Stacy has been instrumental in leading TMF’s sustainability efforts, resulting in the Los Angeles Marathon being among the ten longest-standing certified events globally by the Council for Responsible Sport.

In her new role as Vice President / Race Director, Stacy will continue to drive and strengthen TMF’s commitment to producing world-class events while supporting TMF’s programs and initiatives to further its mission.
