Sprint finish at 2nd edition of GFNY Bento Gonçalves

New York City, October 18, 2023 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Bento Gonçalves, located in the heart of Brazil´s Sierra Gaúcha, hosted the 2nd edition of GFNY Bento Gonçalves, this past Sunday. The racecourse was 135.9km long with a tough 2721m of climbing.

A group including GFNY Bento 2022 champion and pro Alex Ferreira de Melo as well as Cristian Lazzari (Team Specialized) dominated the race. During the final 12 km climb, Lazzari and Melo put in an attack the others could not match. In the two man sprint to the finish line, Lazzari took the win in 03:55:41. Marcelo Vinicius rounded out the all Brazil podium.

In the female race, last year´s GFNY Bento Gonçalves champ Erika Soares (Team Trek) repeated in a solo effort (4:21:52), ahead of Ruti Reis and Paula Sune who closed the all Brazilian podium.

Next up on the GFNY calendar is the GFNY Florida Sebring endurance sports weekend with the 3rd edition of GFNY Marathon Florida Sebring on Saturday October 21 and the fourth edition of GFNY Florida Sebring cycling on Sunday, October 22, 2023.
