RunSignup Releases 2025 Top 100 Largest Road Races

Moorestown, NJ (January 12, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – RunSignup, the leading registration and technology provider for races in the U.S., released a list of the 2025 Top 100 Largest Road Races in the United States. This report ranks races based on the publicly available finisher counts for each race weekend in 2025 to evaluate trends in participation. In the absence of a single aggregator for US road race data, this report is compiled to improve the industry understanding of the top tier of most attended events.

Larger races have had a slower recovery from COVID, but the 2025 Top 100 report suggests that runners are back on the big stages. More than half of the races on the 2025 list exceeded their 2019 participation, with an average per-race increase of 5.2% from 2019 to 2025. In the last year, the average race on the Top 100 list grew 6.5%.

Highlights of the report include:

• The top 5 largest races in 2024 included the TCS New York City Marathon & Abbot Dash to the Finish 5K, Bank of America Chicago Marathon & Abbot Chicago 5K, BOLDERBoulder, AJC Peachtree Road Race, and Boston Marathon + BAA 5K.. All were in the top 6 in 2023, and all exceeded 40,000 finishers in 2024.
• Three registration platforms hosted 54% of the races, including 21 on RunSignup, 17 on Race Roster, and 16 on Haku. Another 13 races use an in-house or custom solution.
• Eleven races were new to the list in 2025, including two new races added to an existing race series, one local race that replaced a discontinued Rock ‘n’ Roll race, and eight races that grew 12-36% to surpass races that were larger than them in 2024.
• Of the 11 races that dropped off the list, one faced a one-time weather cancellation, one was permanently discontinued, four grew from 2024-2025 but were outpaced by other, faster-growing races, and five lost participants over the last year.
• The five largest single events included two marathons, two 10Ks, and a 10 miler. These were the TCS New York City Marathon, Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Bolder Boulder 10K, ACJ Peachtree Road Race 10K, and the Broad Street 10 Miler.
