45 Directors from 13 Countries Have Directed Their Events 25 or More Times

At a time when the sport faces many challenges, Road Race Management has published on its website a list of race directors who have devoted decades to the sport. Topping the list is Laddie Lawrence, who has directed the Westport Summer Series (CT) for 56 years. CLICK HERE for the list of longest serving Race Directors.

Over 45 event directors from the U.S. and 12 other countries who have directed a single race 25 or more times are listed. Road Race Management will continue to update the list and invites other eligible directors from around the world to submit their histories at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/598M2VW.

“It is nice to be able to recognize these individuals whose names are indelibly connected to these events,” said Phil Stewart, President of Road Race Management. “Many of these individuals may have scored their events the first time by passing out index cards or popsicle sticks to track the order of finish and produced mimeographed results listings. What a technological revolution they have seen.”

Road Race Management is a member-based organization that publishes Road Race Management newsletter, a trade and educational running industry newsletter, and Organizing Running Events: A Complete Guide to Staging a Successful Road Race, a complete manual covering running event organization. The organization also stages the Road Race Management Race Directors’ Meeting and Trade Exhibit, the country’s oldest race directors’ meeting. The company also provides other race director and industry resources on the web.
